Tallahassee, Fla. – The No.16/NR Florida State swimming and diving teams will host Tampa at 2 p.m., at the Morcom Aquatics Center on Friday. Prior to the meet at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Seminoles will recognize 18 senior student-athletes for their achievements in and out of the pool. The meet will follow the 13-event college dual meet format but will only compete in swimming races. The divers will compete at a two-day competition in Atlanta, Ga., against Miami, Georgia Tech, and Auburn. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 21/NR Florida State swimming and diving teams fell to No. 7/15 Georgia at the Morcom Aquatics Center on Saturday. The men (1-1) dropped its contest 121-179 and the women (3-1) fell 123-176. “We did some great things today,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “We came up short, but Georgia is a very good team. We have a lot to be proud of and this will be something we can build on this season.” Edith Jernstedt lowered her own Morcom Aquatics Center pool record in the 200 fly, controlling the race for the win at 1:58.06. Jernstedt originally set the mark back in January (1:58.64). She later contributed a win in the 100 fly, touching at 53.79. Peter Varjasi also bested his pool record in the 100 free, touching at 43.60, eclipsing his standard of 43.62 that was set back on Nov. 14, 2020. Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State swimming and diving teams will split up and compete against each other in the annual Garnet vs. Gold meet at the Morcom Aquatics Center on Friday at 3 p.m. Admission is free.
“We’re excited to see the team mix it up and race,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “We’ve had amazing workouts and a really great attitude and vibe this year, so we’re looking forward to seeing them compete.”
The teams will compete in 17 events including the 100’s and 200’s of each stroke in addition to the 50, 500 and 1000 free, 100 IM and 200 IM.
The 200 medley relay will start off the meet and the 200 free relay will close it out.
Diving will run simultaneously to swimming.
Both teams have been competing in challenges all week. Both squads are tied with 8.5 points in the women’s meet and the Gold men have a 9-8 advantage.
