BHUBANESWAR: Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of 14 farmers outfits in the state, has started 12-day-long Krushak Adhikar Yatra (March for farmer rights) in Odisha protesting farm laws and showing solidarity to farmers’ movement in New Delhi.
Commemorating the historic Dandi March on March 12, 1930, the farmer leaders started the yatra from Bhubaneswar after paying floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Mahatma Gandhi Park here on Friday. BHUBANESWAR: The farmers and their outfits are preparing to hold the hunger strike on January 30, Martyr’s Day. They will organise this strike across the state starting from rural areas to urban centres. They said that the protest introduced by the Father of the Nation almost a century ago is a great medium to give a message to the Centre against the farm laws.
All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), an umbrella organisation of different farmer outfits, will organise the hunger strike across the state under the guidance of Samyukt Kisan Morcha. “We will hold the hunger strike on the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi,” said Suresh Panigrahy state convenor of AIKSCC.
