The Tigers will play NC State on Friday, March 3 at 5 p.m. and will conclude the weekend against No. 25 Wake Forest on Sunday, March 5 at noon. The live stream for the matches is available here. CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s tennis team (9-5, 0-2 ACC) dropped the Sunday afternoon match to No. 25 Wake Forest (15-5, 2-0 ACC) 6-1 at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility, despite a top 100 win for Matt Pitts. Wake Forest started off the afternoon on the right foot, winning 6-1 on Court 2. Max Smith and Spencer Whitaker were down 4-1 before making an incredible comeback and winning five straight games to take the match 6-4 over the Demon Deacon’s No. 40 doubles team in the nation. Trey Stinchcomb and Matt Pitts battled on Court 3 for the Clemson doubles point but came up just short, dropping the match 6-4. The Demon Deacons took the momentum from doubles play into singles, earning wins on Courts 5, 4 and 1 before clinching the match 4-0. Wins on Court 5 and 2 for Wake Forest would bring the score to 6-0 before M. Pitts registered a well-earned come from behind 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 win over No. 95 Karimov. CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s tennis team (9-3) topped the UNCW Seahawks (3-2) on Saturday afternoon at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility to improve their home record to 8-2 and conclude non-conference play. “It was an excellent win for us today,” said Head Coach Robbie Weiss. “Coming into the match, Jorge was out and Ryuhei was limited with an injury, which was definitely a cause for concern against a very good UNCW team. We had to step up and dig deep, which all the boys did. I am incredibly proud of them for the way they competed and played. We need to get healthy as we prepare for the ACC season which kicks off next weekend. CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s tennis team (8-3) fought until the very end on Sunday afternoon at the Duckworth but ultimately dropped a hard-fought match 4-3 to No. 22 Northwestern (7-3). The Tigers started off hot, playing its best doubles of the year as Jorge Plans Gonzalez and Max Smith continued to roll on Court 2, dominating by a score of 6-2. Minutes later Matt Pitts and Trey Stinchcomb clinched the point for the Tigers 6-4 as Ryuhei Azuma and Spencer Whitaker had match point on Court 1 5-4, (40-30) but the match remained unfinished. Northwestern was able to take the first singles wins on Courts 2 and 4, both with a 6-4, 6-3 score. Nini Dica responded for the Tigers and came back down from a 4-1 hole in the first set to take it 7-6 before dominating the second set 6-1 to tie things up 2-2.
