CLEMSON, S.C. - Senior infielder Blake Wright (Belleair, Fla.) was named ACC Player-of-the-Week, announced Monday by the league office. He joined Wake Forest's Chase Burns, who was named ACC Pitcher-of-the-Week, in receiving conference accolades. ACC baseball weekly honors are determined by a vote of a select media panel and are announced on Mondays throughout the regular season.It marked his second ACC Player-of-the-Week honor in 2024, as he received the accolade on March 25.In only three games on the week, all in a series win against Georgia Tech, Wright was 6-for-11 (.545) with three homers, a double, 11 RBIs, six runs, a 1.455 slugging percentage, walk, two hit-by-pitches, a .600 on-base percentage and no errors in eight chances at third base.He went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday, then went 4-for-5 with two homers and a career-high seven RBIs in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday. CLEMSON, S.C. Hootie Ingram, who served as Clemson’s head coach from 1970-72, passed away Monday morning according to reports from WVUA in Tuscaloosa, Ala. and AL.com. He was 90 years old. Ingram was officially hired as Clemson’s head coach on Dec. 17, 1969, following three seasons as Arkansas’ defensive backs coach under Frank Broyles. Ingram recorded a 12-21 record as Clemson’s head coach before transitioning into administration. Ingram’s tenure coincides with two iconic Clemson traditions. Prior to his first season in 1970, he called a meeting with Clemson administrators with the intent of refreshing Clemson’s image. That July, Clemson officially unveiled its now-omnipresent Tiger Paw logo that debuted on the Tigers’ helmets that fall. For the final game of his tenure, Ingram also reinstated Clemson’s Running Down the Hill tradition that had stood dormant for several years following the construction of locker rooms in Clemson’s west end zone. Clemson, SC Jordan Byrd’s Clemson men’s golf team was selected to the NCAA Regional Golf Tournament on Wednesday, the 42nd consecutive regional tournament for the program.The streak is the longest in terms of consecutive NCAA Tournaments in Clemson sports history.Clemson was selected for the Chapel Hill Regional at the Finley course on the University of North Carolina campus. The tournament will be held May 13-15 with 18 holes being played each day. The 13-team field in Chapel Hill includes #1 seed North Carolina, the #4 ranked team in the nation, second-seeded Alabama, ranked ninth overall, and third-seed Georgia Tech, ranked 17th in the nation.
