Many of these honored athletes and coaches are headed to the
2021 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships next week in Birmingham, Alabama.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Year
ATLANTIC REGION – Julian Griffin – Wheeling
Griffin, a freshman from Lebanon, Ohio, is ranked first regionally in the 60H at 8.28.
CENTRAL REGION – Ryan Riddle – Missouri Southern
Riddle, a sophomore from Webb City, Missouri, is ranked third nationally in the mile at 4:01.07. He is also ranked 20th nationally in the 5000 at 14:09.72. Riddle earned the MIAA High Point Award at the conference championships with victories in the mile and 3000 as well as runner-up effort in the 5000.
SEVIERVILLE â The list of candidates for this yearâs municipal elections continues to take shape, as most incumbents have returned petitions to run again and so have some challengers.
Would-be candidates have to pick up petitions from the Sevier County Election Commission to run for office, and they have to return a petition by noon on Feb. 18 to be considered for this yearâs ballots.
After that date, the commission will meet to verify that each candidate had at least 25 signatures from people registered to vote in their city.
Candidates who meet those qualifications will be on the ballots for this yearâs elections.
SEVIERVILLE â Candidates are starting to return petitions to seek office in the upcoming municipal elections for Sevierville, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
To run for office in one of the city elections, candidates have to pick up a petition from the Sevier County Election Commission and then return it with signatures from at least 25 people registered to vote in their city.
They have until noon on Feb. 18 to return a completed petition, so it can be reviewed and certified by the election commission.
In Sevierville, Joey Ohman has returned a petition to run for Seat B, which is currently held by Alderman Jimmy McGill. McGill has picked up a petition, but had not yet returned one at press time.
