Facts Matter: Vaccinated people don't shed viral particles

Posted5/16/2021 5:30 AM A recent claim making its way through social media falsely says people who have received a vaccine against COVID-19 can shed, or spread, the virus to others who have not been vaccinated. The post, which has been shared more than 2,000 times on Facebook, cites a May 3 article published by an organization that calls itself an independent pro-life news outlet. The article states, As these experimental vaccines create spike proteins, vaccinated individuals can shed some of these particles to close contacts causing disease in them.   That can t happen, according to public health experts quoted in USA Today. None of the approved vaccines used in the U.S. contain live coronavirus.

Woman faces 12 counts of animal cruelty after dog found emaciated

View Comments A woman faces 12 counts of animal cruelty after officials say more than a dozen animals in her care were found living in deplorable conditions nearly a month ago.  Phoenix police last month responded to a report of animal neglect at a home near Van Buren and 40th streets, said Phoenix police spokesperson Sgt. Maggie Cox. Police on April 19 had probable cause to arrest Rachel Ussery-Welch on suspicion of 12 counts of animal cruelty, Cox said. Details about the events leading to Ussery-Welch s arrest were not immediately available since she was not in the Maricopa County Superior Court s system as of Wednesday afternoon, according to court spokesperson Vincent Funari.

Finchem hopes audit will lead to reassignment of Arizona's electoral votes

Rep. Mark Finchem, R-Oro Valley. Photo by Gage Skidmore | Flickr/CC BY-SA 2.0 Republican state representative and secretary of state candidate Mark Finchem told a QAnon talk show that he hopes the results of Arizona’s election audit will lead to the state’s 11 presidential electors being reassigned to former President Donald Trump.  Finchem, R-Oro Valley, appeared on RedPill78 hosted by Zak Paine on Saturday, and the two men spent two hours discussing the audit and election fraud allegations.  Finchem has long asserted that the goal of the audit is to not find fraud but restore integrity in Arizona’s election. However, during the interview he said he hopes that the outcome will result in Arizona’s electoral votes being awarded to Trump, though President Joe Biden won the state by 10,457 votes. Congress certified the final results of the Electoral College in January.
