CM Vijayan had exuded confidence of securing power in Kerala once again
Incumbent Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has taken the lead from the Dharmadam constituency in the initial round of vote counting for Kerala assembly election. He is leading by 3,351 votes so far. The CPI (M) CM had won the seat in 2016 elections with almost 37,000 votes.

With the counting of votes in the Kerala Assembly elections picking pace and reaching the halfway mark in many of the 140 constituencies, the indications are that the Left is set to rewrite the state s electoral history by becoming the first government to retain power.
According to present indications, the Left Democratic Front is leading in 93 seats while the Congress-led United Democratic Front in 44 and the BJP in three seats.

Counting of votes that began at 8 am on Sunday in Kerala is showing that the Left after leading in the postal ballot, continued to maintain its lead when the EVMs were opened, while the Congress led-UDF made a slight forward progress and the BJP was leading in two constituencies.

The counting of votes for the Assembly elections has begun in the two southern states- Kerala and Tamil Nadu, and Union Territory of Puducherry.
Kerala, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu saw single phase voting on April 6.
The exit polls for the states and a Union Territory predicted a clear victory for DMK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu, LDF retaining power in Kerala and NDA in Puducherry.
