niles canyon road is closed to the pass, and they re also up a rockslide that s complicated access to this hear. sky 7 was over the pass yesterday. according to a sheriff s spokesperson, the young woman was driving along niles canyon road when she may have made contact with another vehicle, and then over-corrected and drove off the road into the creek. now, emergency crews have spent more than a day searching the banks of the alameda creek, and so far they haven t found anyone, so unfortunately they believe that the young driver of that car is still inside. reporting live along alameda creek, abc seven news. thank you, surge jo. crews have spent the afternoon cleans up this mudside. they are making progress. large waves hit the shoreline, up to 25 feet on some shores. a high surf advisory is in effect unit tuesday. in south san francisco a tree came crashing down on a home inside. in sonoma county as days of rain, flooding continues to be a problem in the north ....
control at niles canyon and slid into the creek in castro valley. sergio has more about the effort tonight. sergio? reporter: an al media county sheriff s crews basically staged about two miles up niles canyon road. that s because, as you can see, the rapids here in the creek are actually they re pretty powerful here, but even more powerful up where this vehicle likely is, so it s too dangerous for emergency have i crews to try to even get to the swart. the swiftwater rescue teams estimate class 4 rapids where the car is currently under water. in addition to the speed of the water, the concerned for rescue teams is the debris that s in the water. branches and other items could be deadly if they collide into divers. a photographer with our media partners the bay area news group shot these pictures of the crews tracking the car from the banks. the alameda county sheriff s department has teams staged in the can down, but right now niles canyon road is closed to the pas ....
not a nice way to start the week. but it s better than it was a year ago when all that moisture was snow. hello and welcome to wusa 9news at noon. alison remembers that snow storm well. and she s here with our first alert forecast, alison? it was so different one year ago. we had all this moisture. but we were a lot colder. we re in the 40s and around 50 degrees. so just rain. there are areas with snow. we ll detail that out in a minute. not around the metro, that s for sure. we have a steady light rain through the metro right now. but pockets of heavier rain off to the west. winchester is seeing some good down pours. and there s that snow through west virginia. that s elevation driven. the higher you go, the colder it is, you ll see snow there. everywhere else, some good steady rainfall. you can see 2 to 3 inches of rain for some areas. and that could cause some flooding concerns. a flood watch is issued for those areas. we have a while to go with this rain. it will ....
water to go. the novato creek is at capacity. there s lots of water pumping going on and lots of moving water going on. but at the time we re not making a ton of progress. you can see crews working to pump this water out. right now there s an emergency mitigation mode. they re allowing for a couple of dry days to allow this water to recede. as far as we know at this point in time there s no emergency plan or future plan in place to make sure that this doesn t happen next time it rains. we re live in novato, suzy steimel. sea cliff state beach one of the hardest hit areas. that s where the ocean is claiming a ship. reporter: it s been a tourist attraction for generations and an icon of the santa cruz county coast. but now waters have turned the ship into a ship wreck. very sad day. reporter: crowds came out as to say their goodbyes. last year the ship broke in two but the days of floods are finishing it off. the ship turned into party platform is seeing its l ....
