one low starts to lose its energy, it transfers to the one down to the south. here s what we see for this system. we will start to see later this evening the one system, that system over the midwest, transfer its energy to the system moving into the mid-atlantic states. as it makes its way up the coast, we re going to see very strong east to northeasterly winds, so coastal flooding and beach erosion along the areas already hard hit by sandy. for coastal new jersey, long island, and into new england windy conditions. back behind the system we re looking at much colder air. so snowfall amounts, generally the models are in agreement, anywhere from 4 to 9 inches of snow from illinois to indiana. as you get to the east coast, very heavy snow. up to 18 inches of snow back through the mountains of west virginia and virginia. as we move to the american models, less snow falling in boston and up into new england. into the west virginia area, about a foot and a half. the european model
now they re telling us 806 people have died after the quake struck an area near the capital, kathmandu. there have been at least 15 aftershocks of 4.5 magnitude or greater and the tremors were felt as far away as new delhi in neighboring india. and let s bring in cnn s indian bureau chief raffi. we know you re in calcutta. the important thing now is to try to find those injured and get some support to these, these areas. but that s proven to be quite difficult. yeah. it is proving to be difficult. on the one hand you have the massive earthquake the epicenter of which is 50 miles to the northwest in kathmandu. so in those parts of nepal, rural parts, we ve heard reports of avalanches on mount everest. on the one hand you have a different type of rescue operation there and on the streets of kathmandu we re seeing all of these images of broken buildings, people out on the street. hospitals overflowing. very different challenge there. so it s an urban challenge and a rural ch
and one officer was actually found unconscious. this is according to the baltimore police department. all are now receiving treatment. we have seen the crowds looting stores. and that is what wolf was just talking about, that cvs was looted. you can see people running in and completely emptying that store, breaking the windows, destroying it. a check cashing store also looted a liquor store. once this looting started, there was very little if any police presence actually seen at any of those locations. it s a stark contrast when the riot first broke out this afternoon when heavily armed police clashed with protesters on the streets. there was fighting going on. hand-to-hand combat, if you will, multiple arrests. maryland state police are ordering an additional 40 state troopers to baltimore tonight as darkness falls. our than jones was reporting right by a high school. a lot of students walked out this afternoon, reportedly to join rioter throwing rocks at police and reporter
