Bengaluru, 30: Karnataka Legislative Council Deputy Chairman S L Dharme Gowda who allegedly died by suicide was reportedly depressed over the December 15 incident in the House, where he was pulled down from the chair during the one day session.
Dharme Gowda was at the centre of the high drama in the legislative council on December 15, which saw BJP-JD(S) and Congress members hurling abuses and pushing each other over a row pertaining to a no-confidence motion against Chairman K Pratapachandra Shetty.
During the ruckus, Dharme Gowda, who was on the Chairman s seat, was pulled down by some Congress legislators who accused him of occupying the chair against the rules.

New Delhi, Dec 30: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday called for a high-level probe by an independent agency into the death of Karnataka Legislative Council Deputy Chairman S L Dharme Gowda.
Gowda, 64, was found dead on rail tracks in Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka in the early hours of Tuesday, with police sources claiming that it was a case of suicide.
He was a JD(S) MLC. He was at the centre of a high drama on December 15 in the legislative council, which saw BJP, JD(S) and Congress members hurling abuses and pushing each other over a row on a no-confidence motion against Chairman K Pratapachandra Shetty.
The body was found on a rail track near Gunasagara in Kadur taluk, they said. Dharme Gowda, 64, who was an MLC from JD(S), is survived by his wife, son and a daughter. His brother, S L Bhoje Gowda, is also an MLC. According to sources, Gowda had left his farmhouse at Sakharayapattana in a private car on Tuesday evening but did not return home, following which his family members and staff started searching for him. He had reportedly asked his driver to stay at a distance and went alone on the pretext of talking to someone, the sources said, adding that a suicide note has been recovered.

SL Dharmegowda was found dead on a railway track near Kadur of Chikkamagaluru in Karnataka on Tuesday morning.
After the news of the suicide of Karnataka Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Dharmegowda, JDS MLC BM Farooq has said he was upset over the incident in the House recently in which he was pulled down from the chair during a session which was marked by a ruckus between the MLCs of rival parties.
JDS MLC BM Farooq said, “He was saddened about the council incident. He was depressed when I met him after that. He didn t want any position. His facial expression said that he was influenced to sit on chair that day by someone.”
