In addition to the crews fighting on the ground, theres a dc10 as well as several helicopters and air tankers trying to get the fire out from the air. The fire began around lake bearsias at 2 30 initially reported that it began from a car fire but now the cause sunday investigation. I have been in the business for 20 years this is by far the most tragic largescale event we have dealt with. Reporter the bus driver was taking students to visit a College Campus in northern california. The drivers of the bus and fedex truck died along with three chaperones and five of the students. Many others escaped by kicking out windows. I see black. Theres fire at the front of the bus. Its crushed in the front. Reporter the ones who made it out could only watch as others died inside the burning wreckage including this couple, chaperones michael and madison, engaged last december in paris. The victims with minor injuries or lucksy enough not to get lucky enough not to get hurt at all, spent the night at this red cross shelter.
