TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Behind seven extra-base hits – including three home runs – and 5.0 shutout innings from Andrew Armstrong, Florida State beat Mercer 13-3 in eight innings Sunday afternoon to complete the series sweep. The Seminoles never looked back after scoring five runs on five hits in the first inning, all with two outs. Every Seminole starter had a hit against Mercer, led by James Tibbs’ 3-for-3 performance with two doubles and two walks. Tibbs now leads FSU with a .341 batting average, 51 runs and 39 walks. Titan Kamaka also had three hits to match his career high, and his three RBI and three runs were a career high. Kamaka hit his second home run of the weekend and got FSU on the board with a two-run single in the first inning; he is the sixth different Seminole this year with at least three hits, runs and RBI in a game. ⚾: Noles Beat UCLA, Move to Winner's Bracket in Auburn Regional

AUBURN, ALA. – Three-seed Florida State (34-23) beat two-seed UCLA (38-23) Friday 5-3 to record the first win of the 2022 NCAA Baseball Tournament. FSU advances to the winner’s bracket and will play either Auburn or SE Louisiana Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Parker Messick (7-5) allowed a pair of runs with four strikeouts in 5.0 innings for his first win away from Dick Howser Stadium this season. Wyatt Crowell, Jonah Scolaro and Davis Hare combined for four innings out of the bullpen, with the only run scoring on a wild pitch. Hare recorded five outs for his team-high fourth save of the season.

The Seminoles took an early lead against UCLA’s Max Rajcic (8-5). With two outs in the first, Jaime Ferrer doubled and scored on James Tibbs’ RBI single, the first at-bat in the NCAA Tournament for both true freshmen.

⚾: Tar Heels Win on Walk-Off HR

CHAPEL HILL – After rallying back from a four-run deficit in the first inning – and leading in the ninth – Florida State (32-20, 15-13 ACC) lost 7-5 to North Carolina (32-19, 13-15) on a walk-off three home run from Alberto Osuna. It was Osuna’s second three-run home run of the game. North Carolina led 4-0 after the first inning, scoring all three runs against FSU starter Carson Montgomery. Montgomery, Conner Whittaker and Wyatt Crowell (5-1) combined to keep the Tar Heels off the board for seven innings until Osuna’s ninth-inning home run. FSU slowly clawed back into the game before taking the lead in the eighth inning. Jaime Ferrer doubled in the fourth inning and scored on James Tibbs’ single. Logan Lacey’s solo home run later that inning made the lead 4-2 UNC. In the sixth, Ferrer hit his eighth home run of the season, over the scoreboard in left field. ⚾: Noles Fall on Walk-Off Home Run

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA – Sterlin Thompson hit a walk-off two-run home run to lead Florida (33-19) to a 7-5 win over Florida State (32-19) Tuesday night at Condron Ballpark.

Logan Lacey tied a career-high with three hits, with a double and two singles. It was the redshirt senior’s 100th career start.

Davis Hare (1-3) was the tough-luck loser, allowing a two-out single to Langford in the ninth before Andrew Armstrong entered and surrendered Thompson’s home run.

After a scoreless top of the first for the Seminoles, Langford homered on the first pitch he saw from Jackson Baumeister. Baumeister settled in and retired the next three batters, with a pair of strikeouts.

The Noles immediately answered with three runs in the second inning. Brett Roberts doubled and scored on James Tibbs’ ninth home run of the season. Nick Ficarrotta walked Brock Mathis, who scored on Lacey’s eighth double of the year.

⚾: Noles Win Game 1 of DH vs. Jacksonville

Game 1 – FSU 2, JAX 1 James Tibbs’ two-run double in the fifth inning was all the offense needed as Florida State topped Jacksonville 2-1 in the first game of Tuesday’s doubleheader. Jonah Scolaro (2-3) pitched a career-high 4.1 innings of relief in the win. Jacksonville scored its run in the first inning on Tommy Joseph’s two-out infield single. Ross Dunn started and notched just two outs, allowing a hit, walk and a hit batter. Scolaro came in and got FSU out of the jam en route to five strikeouts, tying a season high.
