After Florida scored four runs in the top of the first, the Seminoles responded with five of their own to take the lead. After DeAmez Ross singled, Jaime Ferrer hit an RBI double; James Tibbs hit an RBI single; Cam Smith hit his third triple of the season, tied for the team lead; and Smith scored on a throwing error by the Gators. With two outs, Jordan Carrion singled for the 5-4 lead. AUBURN, ALA. – Three-seed Florida State (34-23) beat two-seed UCLA (38-23) Friday 5-3 to record the first win of the 2022 NCAA Baseball Tournament. FSU advances to the winner’s bracket and will play either Auburn or SE Louisiana Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET.
Parker Messick (7-5) allowed a pair of runs with four strikeouts in 5.0 innings for his first win away from Dick Howser Stadium this season. Wyatt Crowell, Jonah Scolaro and Davis Hare combined for four innings out of the bullpen, with the only run scoring on a wild pitch. Hare recorded five outs for his team-high fourth save of the season.

BRIGHTON, MASS. – Florida State (27-17, 12-11 ACC) evened the series at Boston College (19-29, 5-21) Saturday afternoon, winning a back-and-forth affair 10-4 at Harrington Village Athletics Park. Alex Toral, Brett Roberts and Jaime Ferrer each had three RBI for the Seminoles, and Wyatt Crowell pitched four scoreless innings for his fifth win of the year.
Roberts hit a solo home run – his fifth of the season – and had a two-run single in the seventh, both of which gave the Seminoles a lead. Toral had an RBI single in the second inning and hit a 440-foot home run in the seventh, his team-best 13th of the year. Ferrer tied the game with an RBI single in the fifth inning and plated two more on a single in the eighth.
Roberts’ three RBI and Toral’s three hits tied their season highs. Ferrer leads FSU with 52 hits on the season.
