TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Eight Noles were recognized for their achievements on and off the track this past indoor season. Trey Cunningham was named the ACC Men's Indoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the third straight year. Cunningham is the first track and field athlete in ACC history to win the award in three straight seasons. Cunningham was also one of eight athletes named to the Academic All-ACC team. Cunningham was joined by Jacore Irving, Ahmed Muhumed, Riley Ott, Adriaan Wildschutt, Lauren Ryan, Ruby Stauber and Alonie Sutton. Braman Quote In arguably the greatest indoor season every by a collegiate hurdler, Cunningham pursued his graduate degree in Sport Management after achieving his undergraduate degree in public relations. Tallahassee, Fla. – The 28th Golden Nole Awards were presented on Monday night by the FSU Student Athlete Advisory Council inside Doak Campbell Stadium. The event highlights the contributions made in the community and recognizes student-athletes that have been exceptional leaders in and out of the athletics arena. “It was a perfect night to celebrate our student-athletes,” FSU director of student-athlete development and events said. “We haven’t been able to gather like this in years and to be back together in this setting is incredible. I’m so proud of the service our student-athletes put in this year.” Beach Volleyball earned the Director’s Cup for Service, accounting for 301 community service hours, for an average of 14 per student-athlete this season. “I am so proud of our team,” FSU beach volleyball head coach Brooke Niles said. “This team is amazing in the fact that they work really hard and want to make a positive impact on the community of Tallaha ....
TAMPA, Fla. - The Florida State track and field team had a solid performance at the South Florida Invitational Friday afternoon. The Noles picked up two individual titles and one relay title during Friday's action. The 4x100m relay team had a really nice opener. The got their region mark in the books with a really good time under windy conditions, Head Coach Bob Braman said. A good day for our jumpers, but unfortunately, the wind was too strong for those marks to earn them a qualifying spot. The 4x100m relay team of Taylor Banks, Amir Willis, Don'dre Swint and Jo'Vaughn Martin shined, as they ran away with the race in the final 200 meters. The four athletes combined to for a time of 39.26, which is the ninth-fastest time this season in the country and will put the Noles in good position to qualify for the NCAA East Region Preliminaries. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State track and field program will be competing at the South Florida Invitational in Tampa, Fla., this Friday. The meet is split over two days with the men competing on Friday and the women competing on Saturday, but the Noles will just be sending a select group of men to compete on Friday. The men's sprinters, Jacore Irving, Jeremiah Davis and Nick Napier will all be competing on Friday. The Noles added this meet to the schedule on Tuesday after weather altered their plans last weekend at the Pepsi Florida Relays. The Noles competed on Friday but only three athletes were able to compete on Saturday before a six hour rain delay. The Noles did not compete following the delay. The biggest group heading down to Tampa will be the men's sprints group. Amir Willis has led that group so far this season with three great performances to start the outdoor season. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State track and field team is set to host the annual FSU Relays this Thursday and Friday at the Mike Long Track in Tallahassee, Fla. Action will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday with hammer throw and will conclude at 9:20 p.m. with the 5000m run. Friday's action will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the discus and conclude at 2:50 p.m. with the 4x400m relay. FSU will also be doing a senior recognition at 11 a.m. on Friday. FSU will also be sending a distance group the Raleigh Relays on Thursday and Friday.
