Today, the Justice Department says theres been double digit increases in murder and violent crime nationwide. The president s efforts come in the wake of a deadly Weekend Shooting at Lake Merritt that claimed the life of one man and injured seven other people. A vigil was held tonight to honor the victims, but also to call for funding cuts to the police. Department activists say the focus instead should be on violence prevention ktv.
