NSF MMT: Vafümei, Ura Uvie, New Market and Red Scars book quarter berths

Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 20 (EMN): Vafümei Gaziphema FC blanked Infinite FC 4-0 in Thursday’s first match of the ongoing NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy to sail through the quarter-final round. Dairhü scored a brace while Rowland and Veshalou contributed a goal each for Gaziphema to claim victory. Sikho Thou, organising committee member, awarded the man of the match to Veishalou of Gaziphema. In the second match, Ura Uvie booked their quarter-final berth with a comprehensive margin of 11-0 over SWAT FC. Kevisanyü Peseyie and Nune Medoze scored braces while a goal each came through Nythong Magh, Kekhrieletuo Tsira, Shürhosül Zhotso,Toka, Nosal and Rokovolie. NSF MMT: FIFA, Ura Uvie enter semis; Unity FC, Lajong FC in quarters

Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 21 (EMN): Playing the first quarter-final match, FIFA FC defeated defending champions Headhunters FC 2-1 to sail into the semis of the ongoing 22nd NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy on Friday evening here at IG Stadium. In a neck-to-neck encounter, Headhunters took an early lead through Pursunep in the 10th minute. However, FIFA staged a comeback after the breather to equalise the scoreline from the boots of Ronald Saikhom who converted a spot kick from the penalty mark in 52nd minute. A determined Saikhom made no mistake to net in his second and the winning goal for FIFA in the 70th minute to claim the hard-fought victory against a formidable team. 22nd NSF MMT: Headhunters FC, Vafümai Gaziphema FC advance to pre-quarters

Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 13 (EMN): Defending champions Headhunters FC trounced Pfosemei FC 9-1 at the ongoing 22nd NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy at IG Stadium on Thursday, in Kohima. Chingsha of Headhunters scored four goals (haul) in the first half to become the second hat-trick scorer of the tournament. Samson scored a brace while their captain Haotingmang Thomsong,  Khampei and Thanglenhao booted in a goal each in a lopsided game. The lone goal in favour of Pfosemei came through the boots of Sibo Ashuzhiio in the 76th minute in the first match of the day. The man of the match was awarded Sibo Ashuzhüo of Pfosemei from Manipur. Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 12 (EMN): Ura Uvie FC blanked Kohima Dynamos FC 4-0 at the ongoing 22nd NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy organised on the theme, ‘Goal for peace’ by Angami Students’ Union (ASU) on Wednesday at IG Stadium in Kohima. Shürhosül Zhotso, who opened the account for Ura Uvie, also registered the fastest goal of the tournament in 1.12th minute. Zhotso doubled the scoreline for his team with a brace in the 8th minute before the breather. Menguzelie Rutsa and Kevisanyü Peseyie netted a goal each for Ura Uvie to seal the fate of Kohima Dynomos. Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 8 (EMN): New Market FC trounced Patkai Christian College 8-1 at the ongoing 22nd NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy organised on the theme, “goal for peace,” by Angami Students’ Union (ASU), at IG Stadium in Kohima on Saturday. Beginning their campaign brightly, New Market, a local favourite team from Kohima, opened the floodgates through Yhunshalo Kemp in the 36th and 42nd followed by Rhitsho Mero’s strike in the 45th, 57th and 69th minutes respectively during the second day of the edition. Rhitsho, who became the first hattrick scorer of the tournament, was later awarded the player of the match. New Market continued to increase their tally through a brace from Gideon and a goal through Neisede Peseyie during the later minutes of the second match.
