NSF MMT: New Market FC, Shillong Lajong FC enter semis

Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct.22 (EMN): New Market FC and Shillong Lajong FC booked their semi-final berths at the ongoing 22nd NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy organised by Angami Students’ Union on Saturday night in Kohima. New Market defeated Red Scars FC with a margin of 3-1 playing the third quarter-final match. Within the kick-off whistle, Petevizo Kezio fired in the first goal for New Market FC in the 48th second which has been recorded as the fastest goal of the tournament so far. Despite the equaliser goal from the boots of Elminhao Kilong for Red Scars in the 15th minute, the determined New Market FC was quick enough to take the lead again when Yhunshalo Kemp struck in the second goal during the 35th minute. Talisman Rhitsho Mero then netted in the third goal for New Market in the 87th minute to seal their victory. Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 21 (EMN): Playing the first quarter-final match, FIFA FC defeated defending champions Headhunters FC 2-1 to sail into the semis of the ongoing 22nd NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy on Friday evening here at IG Stadium. In a neck-to-neck encounter, Headhunters took an early lead through Pursunep in the 10th minute. However, FIFA staged a comeback after the breather to equalise the scoreline from the boots of Ronald Saikhom who converted a spot kick from the penalty mark in 52nd minute. A determined Saikhom made no mistake to net in his second and the winning goal for FIFA in the 70th minute to claim the hard-fought victory against a formidable team. The man of the match was awarded to Jayananda Moirangthem Singh of FIFA by Kuolie Mere, PRO, Nagaland House, New Delhi. 22nd NSF MMT: Lajong FC rout Dzülouzou 11 - 0, PSU beat Phoenix 3 - 1

Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 18 (EMN): Shillong Lajong FC, a reputed team of I-League, hammered Dzülouzou FC 11-0 at the ongoing 22nd NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy on Tuesday at IG Stadium in Kohima. Lajong took control of the game from the start even as Dzülouzou players tried their best to prevent the I-League team from scoring against them untill Wadajied brilliantly headed in the first goal of the match in the 27th minute through Sangti’s assist. After ten minutes, Wadajied doubled the tally while Chanmitre too scored a brace to end the halftime at 4-0 in favour of Lajong. Chanmitre completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute and netted his fourth goal in the 58th. The talisman of Lajong found his fifth goal in the 81st minute and sixth goal in the 90th minute to become the second player to score a double hat-trick in the tournament.
