Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct.22 (EMN): New Market FC and Shillong Lajong FC booked their semi-final berths at the ongoing 22nd NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy organised by Angami Students’ Union on Saturday night in Kohima. New Market defeated Red Scars FC with a margin of 3-1 playing the third quarter-final match. Within the kick-off whistle, Petevizo Kezio fired in the first goal for New Market FC in the 48th second which has been recorded as the fastest goal of the tournament so far. Despite the equaliser goal from the boots of Elminhao Kilong for Red Scars in the 15th minute, the determined New Market FC was quick enough to take the lead again when Yhunshalo Kemp struck in the second goal during the 35th minute. Talisman Rhitsho Mero then netted in the third goal for New Market in the 87th minute to seal their victory. Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 20 (EMN): Vafümei Gaziphema FC blanked Infinite FC 4-0 in Thursday’s first match of the ongoing NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy to sail through the quarter-final round. Dairhü scored a brace while Rowland and Veshalou contributed a goal each for Gaziphema to claim victory. Sikho Thou, organising committee member, awarded the man of the match to Veishalou of Gaziphema. In the second match, Ura Uvie booked their quarter-final berth with a comprehensive margin of 11-0 over SWAT FC. Kevisanyü Peseyie and Nune Medoze scored braces while a goal each came through Nythong Magh, Kekhrieletuo Tsira, Shürhosül Zhotso,Toka, Nosal and Rokovolie. During the game, Elminhao Kilong scored a haul while Lalsiem Chonloi a hatrick for Red Scars. Neikethozo Yhome and Medoneituo scored a brace each while Khrielatuolie, Talisunep and Vikehielie contributed a goal each for Red Scars to progress to the pre-quarters. Vekhrüto Resu of Red Scars was awarded the man of the match. The award was handed by Vizokho Zhashümo, former ASU President and present ASU Tribunal member. “Thepfüko Krotho,” roughly translated as men’s fellowship in Tenyidie, are the oldest veteran team in the tournament.
