Halden, Relays Win Gold at Auburn Invite

  AUBURN, Ala.  –  The No.16/NR Florida State swimming and diving teams opened competition at the Auburn Invite on Friday. The Seminoles won five relays and Jenny Halden captured gold in the 100 fly behind a season-best of 52.65. “Today was a fun day,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “We had some good swims and great team vibe. We’re looking forward to another opportunity tomorrow.” The women’s team finished first behind Brooke Arnold, Ariana Ottavianelli, Ashley Zettle and Des Lewis at 1:35.44 in the 200 free relay to start the meet. Arnold turned in her season best in the 500 free, finishing in fifth place with a time of 4:55.46. Ashley Zettle placed ninth at 5:09.51. Sydney Cole followed with a personal best in the 200 IM, touching at 2:03.50 for fourth place ahead of Syndey Boals in eighth at 2:04.34. Noles Add More Personal Bests to Close Out Auburn Invite

AUBURN, Ala. – The No.19/RV Florida State swimming and diving teams closed out competition at the Auburn Invite on Saturday. Pia Murray and Hannah Womer contributed podium performances, while members of both teams added career best swims. Murray swam a personal best in the 200 back, touching at 1:54.94 for the win. Her swim still ranks her third on the FSU all-time top 10 list. Oliva Sapio followed in seventh place, clocking 1:59.74 to close out her career. Gloria Muzito led the way for the Noles in the 100 free, touching at 50.88 for 11th place, just ahead of Brooke Arnold (51.08) in 12th and Gabrianna Banks (51.20) in 13th. In the 200 breast, Rachel Moran placed seventh at 2:17.44 ahead of Nora Woods in 11th (2:22.83). Hannah Womer added bronze in the 200 fly, touching at 1:58.66. No. 16 Men Defeat LSU, No. 22 Women Tie
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  –  The No.16 Florida State men’s swimming and diving team (3-0, 1-0 ACC) picked up its third win of the season on Friday, defeating RV LSU 170.5-91.5 at the Morcom Aquatics Center. The No. 22 FSU women (1-1-1, 0-1 ACC) tied the RV Tigers 131-131 as both teams competed in swimming events only.
“I thought we had a pretty good day,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “We’ve only been back in the water this week and I liked what I saw. We lost at LSU last year on the women’s side, so for us to tie is a step in the right direction. We had some great swims from both teams and I am really proud of the effort.” ....
