Halden, Relays Win Gold at Auburn Invite

  AUBURN, Ala.  –  The No.16/NR Florida State swimming and diving teams opened competition at the Auburn Invite on Friday. The Seminoles won five relays and Jenny Halden captured gold in the 100 fly behind a season-best of 52.65. “Today was a fun day,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “We had some good swims and great team vibe. We’re looking forward to another opportunity tomorrow.” The women’s team finished first behind Brooke Arnold, Ariana Ottavianelli, Ashley Zettle and Des Lewis at 1:35.44 in the 200 free relay to start the meet. Arnold turned in her season best in the 500 free, finishing in fifth place with a time of 4:55.46. Ashley Zettle placed ninth at 5:09.51. Sydney Cole followed with a personal best in the 200 IM, touching at 2:03.50 for fourth place ahead of Syndey Boals in eighth at 2:04.34. AUBURN, Ala.  –  The No.16/NR Florida State swimming and diving closed out the Auburn Invite on Saturday at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center.

“It was another good day for us,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “They supported each other, and they competed hard. I am very proud of this group.”

Sydney Cole turned in a season-best in the 200 back, touching at 1:59.11 for fourth place.

Brooke Arnold added her best time in the 100 free, touching at 50.59, finishing in ninth.

The Seminoles had two in the women’s 200 breast, led by Rachel Moran (2:19.62) in 11th and Sydney Boals (2:23.25) in 14th.

Mabry Bishop led the way for the Noles in the 200 fly, touching fourth at 2:01.55, just off her best time (2:01.43). Jenny Bird followed in eighth at 2:05.10.

Conner Lowery got the session started off by placing seventh in the men’s 200 back at 1:47.83.
