In Farmington: A fond farewell to TD Bank and staff

In Farmington: A fond farewell to TD Bank and staff Stephanie Piro FARMINGTON  Everyone seems to be spring cleaning and there are several upcoming events that will help you clear out, including getting rid of old medications or hazardous waste, plus the annual Town and Road clean-ups. And spring banners are now a welcome sight around town. Farmington TD Bank closing The community has had a bank downtown for over 100 years. Currently is a TD Bank, but they decided to close our branch as of April 23. This is a loss for everyone who banked there, especially those who were within walking distance and don’t have transportation to a different location. It’s also a loss, for those of us who frequented this bank, of the great staff who worked there for so long. Here’s a special shout out to Angela, Tammie, Nancy H., Nancy W., and Kathy. Thank you for being such a friendly, welcoming presence in our community. We’ll miss you.

Thanks to an active community member A special shout-out to Ann Titus for all her support of the community during her tenure as selectman. She has always been an active cheerleader for our town.

Farmington town elections, meeting on March 9-10

FARMINGTON  First, a shout out to the National Guard and the volunteers who keep the C & J Vaccinations site so well organized. Thank you for doing such an awesome job! Everyone who has been there has commented on how well run it is. In other news, it’s Read Across America Week! See how you and your family can participate with Valley View. Coyotes! Several people in and around different parts of Farmington have reported coyote encounters and say to keep pets inside whenever possible. Mating season has made them more aggressive. Skunks! It’s also apparently skunk breeding season and the Conservation Commission asks people watch out for skunks crossing roads at night, as they’re an important part of our ecosystem and eat insects among other things.

In Farmington: Father Thom to be deployed in March

In Farmington: Father Thom to be deployed in March By Stephanie Piro FARMINGTON - The Christmas lights have been turned off downtown. Thank you to the Farmington Preservation and Improvement Organization for keeping them on extra long in honor of health care workers. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing the spring banners fluttering from poles around town before too long! Also, you can help the Audubon Society by tracking the winter birds at your feeders. We have had those red-breasted nuthatches at ours. Chaplain deployment The Rev. Thomas Duston of Saint Peter’s Catholic Church is also a Catholic chaplain in the Air National Guard, and will be deploying in a couple of months, joining over 100 other airmen from Pease in this year’s deployment. He’ll prepare for this over the next month, and then depart some time in March for the seven-month deployment. The bishop will be sending a priest to the parishes he serves while he is away. Father Thom will be giving each parish a Blue S
