it was the coalition president obama has been pushing for. five arab nations joined in the overnight air strikes against isis targets in syria. today at the u.n., president obama sat down with the leaders of those nations. because of the almost undprenu undprentsed efforts of this coalition, we send a message the world is united. reporter: he called the attack by air and sea very effective. it was the beginning of a campaign to degrade and ultimately destroy isil. reporter: 47 missiles were fired and 200 bombs and missiles were dropped from fighter jets and bombers. the strikes were centered around the isis stronghold, but they stretched east to the iraq border. the targets were isis headquarters, supply depots, command and control centers and financial centers. no individual isis leaders were specifically targeted. the u.s. did not request permission or coordinate the strikes with syrian president bashar al assad s regime but the administration did say it warne ....

you all. i m t.j. holmes. i m reena ninan. millions of americans are battling downpours and flash flooding on the way to work this morning. you can see the storm tracking moving from the mid-atlantic north to new england and west into pennsylvania. plan on heavy rain, wind and a lot of flooding, folks. overnight, northwest texas, lubbock flooding, especially along texas tech university stadium. the flooding so intense and sudden fire crews are to rescue motorists. but worse in central florida, the area in and around daytona beach is drowning. 10 inches in some spots. turning kayaks into the preferred form of transportation. when you pull up and the water level is up to the top of the mailbox, it s a little concerning. the cleanup can t get started yet because there s more rain in the forecast today. and most of the west coast bracing for a significant storm today. meteorologist jim dickey joins us with the forecast. good morning. good morning. tracking ....

live in marin county but we will start with meteorologist drew tuma in for spencer christian. the cold front is approaching the bay area. ahead of the cold front we are starting to see showers break out just in time for the evening rush. we have green on the screen pressing locally into the north bay first, santa rosa, petaluma, light showers falling at this hour. further to the south, city of san francisco, even the east bay, widely isolated showers at this hour but watch what s approaching in the south bay, with heavier downpours that are all moving north over the next couple of hours. we will see that move throughout the bay area. let s time it out specifically in the south bay. in about the next half hour, san jose gets on this more moderate rainfall. in 45 minutes, right around gilroy. within the 58 minutes, this moderate band of showers will move through livermore. if you are waiting for someone to come into the airport, look at arrival delays right now, almost ....
