Families in one nearby dublin neighborhood were forced from their homes for about two hours. This morning, theres still no word on a cause of that fire. Campbell. Breaking news out of san leandro where police are investigating a shooting at bayfair mall. Ken wayne is live at the scene. Ken, what can you tell us . Reporter well, this is still a very active crime scene. You can see behind me Police Officers have taped off the entrance to the east side of the mall. This is next to the fresh choice and one of the macys entrances to bayfair mall. This all started within the past hour with some kind of altercation between two groups inside the mall that spilled out into the parking lot. Two men confronted two other men, gunshots were fired, and two victims started running. We understand one victim was shot in the leg. We talked to some people who were outside of the mall, heard the gunshots. We talked to a very young shopper. Heres what she described happened. Weve seen the two victims one was dark skinned and the light skinned one, he ran over here and then he he ran like dashing thro ....
The evacuation and shelter in place order is lifted. We shot video 15 or 20 minutes ago. You could check it out. It started at 8 45 a. M. When a construction crew hit a 4 gas main. Firefighters took over the scene. Pg e was called. Campbell police blocked the roads and went doortodoor to the homes. A shelterinplace order was given a quartermile of the leak and notified by reverse 911 system and capped at 10 29 with the order listed 15 minutes later. Good thing it happened this time of day because most people were at work. The Campbell Community center has maybe one person showing up and not a lot people who had to use the shoal step in place at the Campbell Community center. As for the scene, they have to move out equipment and work and that scene so the traffic is going to be blocked off here for at least a little while longer. Thank you. Far from winchester, as you mentioned. Workers hit that gas main when they were at a construction site. The gas main is here on hacienda avenue allowing the natural gas to escape. Police were called in to go to nearby homes and apartments on areas around here, virginia avenue, walnut drive, hacienda to tell people that because of the leak of natural gas, they may want to leave. We were told about 80 homes ultimately were evacuated this morning. All of those people were sent to the Campbell Community center. The good news is now, the leak has been capped. No danger, according to Campbell Police and pg e crews that have been here on the scene. Everyone is allowed to come back to their homes and there is no more risk in this area.
