Im britney johnson, here in Severe Weather center 9 with meteorologist christine labp tracking a line of showers. We had a line we were tracking this morning. Its moved off to the east here. We are starting to see some west wind. Thats actually warming us um a little more than originally expected. As you can see, more blue skies as well. We are up to 68 degrees here this afternoon. You can see the wind out of the southwest about 5 to 10 miles an hour this afternoon. Its sticky out there but were now. Were at 50 in boone, 47 in statesville, and our chance of rain is not done for today. Well still track a few scattered showers heading throughout the afternoon and evening hours. Minutes. Happening now, thousands day parade and charlotte goes green festival. We are changing things slightly with some heavy precipitation moving in overnight and continuing for tomorrow morning right through the noon hour tapering off in the afternoon. Now take look at storm scan3. You see the yellows and oranges that is heavy rain. A transition zone that is some sleet and then some snow. You can see transition beginning through allentown the Lehigh Valley, reading berks county and through lancaster the poconos beginning to see some snow mixing in but this encompasses about 20 states so its a huge part of the country being impacted by the storm. As the colder air builds in, we are going to be seeing that changeover overnight. Visibility an issue now with this warm moist air very cold snow pack. And just in tonight the city of philadelphia says it will likely make a decision on schools early tomorrow morning. Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter has already announced a snow emergency will take effect at 6am for the city.
