Program the faa report indicated it was developing a new process. it s unclear if that has happened. the inspection process and its oversight is exactly what peter defazio is concerned about in the recent crashes involving the reengineered boeing 737 max. for some reason that approved redesign did not include retraining pilots on a new automated computer system to prevent aircraft stalls and steep assents. boeing did issue a bulletin. but pilots have complained they had no idea the system was on their planes or how it worked. defazio wants to know why. why did this plane go out without requiring pilot retraining. the argument apparently made by boeing was, it was the same as all the other 737s, it isn t. it has a system that none of the ....

This hour, anthony roman, a former pilot and ceo and founder of roman associations, an investigation/risk management firm. tom was talking about those recorders. they will have hundreds of pieces of information. ron was talking about that oscillation. will be able to confirm from if those are intact what exactly happened. what were they doing in front, what was happening in back with the equipment. these oscillations are a real problem because once they start, they build on themselves and can result in a stall configuration. which would explain that very low air speed within 20 seconds after it reached 33,000 feet or so. it begins like this and as the aircraft builds momentum, as they get big, it reaches an angle of attack at which the aircraft stalls and begins to go down precipitously. ....

Steve ascent and then the plane stalled, does that make sense to you? well it does in some respects. look there are two thing there are several things that can cause an aircraft to go up at a very rapid rate of climb. one is pilot-induced, pulling the nose up. although it s very difficult to maintain any high rate of climb at high altitude because the aircraft performance is insufficient to maintain a high rate of cliep. you could get an initial high rate but then it would drop off as the aircraft stalls. the other way is an updraft in the thunderstorm. if there s a very strong updraft, the aircraft could in theory climb at great rate. but you know which ever way you look it, ku i do not there s only so much power from those engines so unless you ve got forward air speed, you do not have control of the aircraft and it will stall. alistair rosenschein, thank you so much for joining me once again. i sure appreciate it. still to come in the newsroom, she knew the risk but loved ....

Information from the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder. let s talk about some of the highlights. we know seven seconds before the crash there was a call for an increase in speed, which means that the pilot knew that the aircraft was not going fast enough to make a successful landing. six seconds before the impact, they had what you call a stick shaker, which means the aircraft was in danger of stalling. if the aircraft stalls, you don t get any lift and you re really going to have an enormous problem. 1 1/2 seconds before impact, the pilot calls to initiate, quote, a go around. what that means is they knew there was going to be trouble. they wanted to abort the landing, make the airplane go up, if you will, and then make another circle to the runway and then try to land the plane once again. the question was asked to the ntsb chairperson if this ....
