New infections soar to 33K; another 3K beat Covid-19

(PNA photo by Joey Razon) MANILA - The number of fresh coronavirus infections in the country soared to 33,169, the highest since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday. In its latest Covid-19 bulletin, the agency said this brought the total active case tally to 157,526, out of a total of 2,998,530 infections since the start of the pandemic. Monday's figure of new cases surpassed Sunday's 28,707. Another 3,725 recoveries were also recorded, accounting for 93 percent of the total number of confirmed infections. Out of the active cases, 147,912 are mild, 2,858 are moderate, 4,994 are asymptomatic, 1,461 are severe, and 301 are critical. "Of the 33,169 reported cases today, 32,972 (99 percent) occurred within the recent 14 days - Dec. 28, 2021 to Jan. 10, 2022," the DOH reported. New Covid-19 infections dip to 984; active cases down to 19.7K

(File photo) MANILA - The country's daily number of new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases has dropped below the 1,000-mark, with 984 infections recorded on Monday. In its latest Covid-19 bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said this brought the active case tally to 19,798 down from Sunday's 21,101. The new cases on Monday are the lowest in less than a week since the country recorded only 849 new cases last November 16. Meanwhile, 2,229 new recoveries were also reported, bringing the recovery count to 2,759,76. Recoveries account for 97.6 percent of the total case count which has reached 2,826,853 since the start of the pandemic last year. About 56.6 percent of these active cases are mild, 4.6 percent are asymptomatic, 5.6 percent are critical, 13.3 percent are severe, and 20.02 percent are moderate. PH logs 1,591 new Covid-19 cases, lowest in nearly 8 months

In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the agency said this brought the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 2,793,898. The active case tally, meanwhile, further dipped to 38,014 lower than Tuesday's 40,786. Wednesday's new cases are slightly higher than the 1,557 infections recorded on February 24 this year. This is also the second consecutive day that daily new Covid-19 cases in the country are below the 3,000-mark since May 23 with only 2,303 cases reported on Tuesday. DOH logs 3,218 new Covid-19 cases, lowest since Sept. 11

MANILA - The Philippines logged its lowest daily coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in over a month, with 3,218 new infections reported on Wednesday. In its Covid-19 bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said this brought the total number of active cases to 50,152, lower than Tuesday's 53,642. Wednesday's figure of new cases is the lowest since September 11, when the country logged a peak of 26,303 new infections. The last time the country logged over 3,000 daily infections was on May 23 this year, with 3,083. Meanwhile, 6,660 new recoveries pushed the total count to 2,676,349 out of a total of 2,768,849 confirmed infections. Another 271 new deaths raised the death toll to 42,348.
