MANILA - The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday tallied 7,689 new SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) infections, the fifth straight day below the 10,000-mark. DOH logs 22K Covid-19 recoveries, 18K new infections

The latest Covid-19 bulletin indicated 226,521 active cases while total recoveries rose to 3,213,190, or 92 percent of 3,493,447 infections since the pandemic started in March 2020. Out of the active cases, 214,857 are mild, 2,971 are moderate, 6,875 are asymptomatic, 1,509 are severe, and 309 are critical. "Of the 18,191 reported cases today, 17,625 (97 percent) occurred within the recent 14 days Jan. 14 to Jan. 27, 2022," the DOH reported. DOH logs 3,218 new Covid-19 cases, lowest since Sept. 11

MANILA - The Philippines logged its lowest daily coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in over a month, with 3,218 new infections reported on Wednesday. In its Covid-19 bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said this brought the total number of active cases to 50,152, lower than Tuesday's 53,642. Wednesday's figure of new cases is the lowest since September 11, when the country logged a peak of 26,303 new infections. The last time the country logged over 3,000 daily infections was on May 23 this year, with 3,083. Meanwhile, 6,660 new recoveries pushed the total count to 2,676,349 out of a total of 2,768,849 confirmed infections. Another 271 new deaths raised the death toll to 42,348.
