In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the agency said this brought the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 2,793,898. The active case tally, meanwhile, further dipped to 38,014 lower than Tuesday's 40,786. Wednesday's new cases are slightly higher than the 1,557 infections recorded on February 24 this year. This is also the second consecutive day that daily new Covid-19 cases in the country are below the 3,000-mark since May 23 with only 2,303 cases reported on Tuesday. Another 4,294 new recoveries were also recorded, pushing the total tally to 2,712, 298. Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 43,586 with 186 new deaths.
