A vote for Khalil (Karl) Saliba is a vote for all

Nancy and William W. (Bill) Collick May 7, 2021 My wife Nancy and I would like to lend our support for Khalil (Karl) Saliba as a candidate for the Lewes City Council. Our family has known the Salibas (Dr. Anis, wife Sue, son Karl and sister Nada) for some 40 years. During that time, it was obvious that the foundation with which Karl was so fortunate to be raised in was one of inclusiveness, fairness and respect for all. Ask anyone who may have spent time in Lewes and they will tell you that as it relates to the Salibas - everybody was somebody, and it did not matter if it was in his office, as a doctor, or in his and Sue’s home as a neighbor or friend.

Meet your Lewes City Council and Board of Public Works candidates

Keep a woman s voice on Lewes City Council

Rachel Grier-Reynolds April 30, 2021 Well over half of all Lewes residents are women…. we must have a seat on the city council! Carolyn Jones has been my friend and “boss” of our Historic Lewes Farmers Market team of Tentations for over 10 years. While she corrals and herds our posse of now very efficient volunteers, she has simultaneously fostered a “family” with a shared purpose.  Carolyn understands the value of listening, inclusivity, and opening her heart and mind to all of us before she takes action and decisively moves forward. Since moving to Lewes, she has shared her vast work experiences and her service to others with our Lewes neighbors by volunteering for city committees, HLFM, mentoring kids through golf, and so many other ways.

Re-election of Morgan important for Lewes

Norma Morrison April 30, 2021 Rob Morgan has been our voice on Lewes City Council. With mounting pressures to develop in a climate of environmental change, we need to re-elect Rob Morgan to vote our best interests and those of our coastal city. Rob is an effective advocate for our core value of protecting Lewes from overdevelopment. This is well documented by his voting record with the Lingo-Townsend shopping center, the Fourth Street Forest, “the Brittingham parcel,” “the Groome Church parcel,” and the Jones Farm. Rob remains focused on environmental issues that are so critical to our well-being as a coastal community, such as sea-level rise, near-term flooding, and saltwater intrusion into our drinking water.  He also is deeply concerned about more easily controlled quality-of-life issues such as neighbor noise control.

Many reasons to elect Jones to Lewes council

Elaine Simmerman April 29, 2021 I believe Carolyn Jones is a strong candidate to replace Bonnie Osler, who will be missed on Lewes City Council.  Carolyn has integrity, ideas, warmth, energy, and commitment to Lewes.  She takes the time to listen carefully to each person, and, at the same time, to research the broad issues before taking a stand. Carolyn has the courage to bring forth original ideas.  To improve communication with its citizens she suggests that Lewes distribute a regular newsletter.  Saying “Lewes will never solve its parking problems,” Carolyn seeks a comprehensive city parking plan which focuses on moving people around instead of cars.  She is against raising taxes.  She suggests doing something about climate change now by using the federal money from the American Rescue Plan to combat it.  She would consider using a professional mediator to solve the current issues between the Lewes Board of Public Works and the City of Lewes, and save custo
