My wife Nancy and I would like to lend our support for Khalil (Karl) Saliba as a candidate for the Lewes City Council. Our family has known the Salibas (Dr. Anis, wife Sue, son Karl and sister Nada) for some 40 years. During that time, it was obvious that the foundation with which Karl was so fortunate to be raised in was one of inclusiveness, fairness and respect for all.
Ask anyone who may have spent time in Lewes and they will tell you that as it relates to the Salibas - everybody was somebody, and it did not matter if it was in his office, as a doctor, or in his and Sue’s home as a neighbor or friend.

Three candidates are seeking two seats on Lewes City Council in the Saturday, May 8 municipal election. Incumbent Rob Morgan and challengers Carolyn Jones and Khalil Saliba are seeking three-year terms. Deputy Mayor Bonnie Osler is stepping away after nine years of service on council. Polls will be open at city hall from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information about the election, go to ci.lewes.de.us/273/Election-Information. I was Khalil “Karl” Saliba’s teacher when I was teaching 6th grade at Shields Elementary. He was delightful, an excellent student, helpful and one of the shining stars in my classroom. I had total confidence he was destined for success with his pleasant demeanor and tireless work ethic. I watched him grow, succeed and work for our community over the years. This man will bring common sense and a perfect balance to Lewes. Do your homework, and please consider Saliba when you hit the polls May 8.
