What is Pilates?
Pilates has a rep for being kind of intimidating but it’s actually a low-impact way to build strength in your core muscles. Developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s, it’s an energetic and mindful total-body exercise method that emphasizes strength, muscle control, and stability. The exercises are either done on the floor with a mat, or on special equipment, including a machine called a Reformer.
What is yoga?
It’s estimated that yoga has been around for thousands of years. The practice consists of a series of physical postures, and also focuses on breathing as well as inward attention and awareness. Ms Daughtrey, who lives near the pub, led a session at the Yarmouth Road site on Wednesday evening with eight people in attendance after 10 had booked the week before.
She said: Yoga has a PR problem with people thinking it s skinny, flexible white women. My mission is to show it is for all people by bringing it to the pub. It is about touching your toes rather than standing on your head!
Mr Wilson added: It was particularly wonderful tonight. We had two stay on in the garden until 9.30pm after the yoga to have a meal and some drinks.

Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that can be done sitting on a chair or standing on the ground while using the chair for support, according to a press release.
Benefits of chair yoga include improved flexibility, better concentration and increased strength, all while focusing on linking movements with breathing. As well as a chair, participants are asked to have a blanket, a strap (or man’s tie), and two yoga blocks or thick books.
