17, 20 miles an hour at travis. today it's decreasing. there is a little east and north. that's usually a sign of things to come. san francisco 54. we'll go 59. there is a lot of coastal position. i think we'll see the usual pattern. but there is also the inland fog and the coastal fog. the two together in february is not something we see. but that will peel back. head back to the coast. areas that did not any sun. i think there will be pockets of it closer to the coast and bay. inland yes, starting off with 50s on the temps. there's 40s in the higher elevations. far enough away you can find 40s. a lot of 50s. temperatures chilly for some. that's the key south, northwest. north, north, northwest, west. but that was about 17 miles an hour at travis. real quick. if you are traveling, bundle up. most of the country is freezing. it's only going to get colder tonight into tomorrow. that cold air grs all the way down. changes are brewing but not until sunday or monday. low clouds, some sun. if you get the sun, the humidity factor is -- it's up. a light breeze. 60s for some. 50s for a few near the coast. near 70 for others. here he is, mr. castanedo. >> thank you, steve. we're looking at a commute in the east bay that's pretty strong. we are seeing a lot of slow traffic. it's not as bad as yesterday. let's go right outside and take a look. you look at the commute at the 580/680 interchange. that's not doing well. we have very slow traffic here as you drive through where the traffic will be busy. i can go all the way back to the eastshore freeway and tell you that today on the east shore it is not as bad as it was yesterday. about a 30-minute drive from the carquinez bridge to the maze which is about a third of what we were waiting on yesterday the we didn't have any of those big accidents. let's go to the bay bridge toll plaza, that is about a 25 to 30- minute delay getting into san francisco. you can see some slow traffic there. i do want to go back to the east bay because highway 4 has been very slow this morning. out of antioch through the entire city of pittsburg. it gets better in concord. back to the desk. two people stabbed inside a walgreens store in san francisco and a couple of people are in custody. alex savidge is live at the walgreens with what led up to this double stabbing. >> reporter: good morning. police are still trying to figure out exactly what the motive was for this attack. we know three people were taken into custody in connection with this stabbing. it happened right inside the front door of this walgreens. this is on powell between o'farrell and ellis. it's a 24-hour store. it was closed for a time for the investigation. but is now back open. police were called out about 2:00 this morning. the investigators say there was some kind of argument between two groups of people that escalated. someone pulled a knife and two people wound up being stabbed. the victims were taken to san francisco general hospital. police tell me, though, that both team are stable. officers moved in. they searched the union square area for the attackers. we saw police take one man into custody at stockton and geary. it's unclear exactly what his connection is to the stabbing. police also did block off part of the square with crime scene tape as part of this investigation. we don't know exactly what, if any, evidence was recovered there at that particular scene. we bring you back out here to a live picture. a very busy area here off union square. police are trying to figure out what led up to the attack, that prompted the argument but we do understand the two people injured in the stabbing are expected to live. back to you. >> let's check back for an update. we're also following developing news in marin county where sheriff deputies are searching for a missing runner. a park rainger tells us -- ranger tells us nathan wilson of san francisco left for a run on mount tam yesterday afternoon around 3:00 p.m. and never came back. the search began at 3:00 a.m., his vehicle has been found. focusing on a trail near the dam. we have a crew heading there. we'll have more information. police are hoping a rare gun will lead them to the gunman who robbed a little caesar's restaurant and shot a female worker. here is a surveillance video from monday night. you can see two men going into the pizza shop one of them hops over the counter while the other one points a gun at the woman. the robbers' faces are covered but you can clearly see the unusual weapon. >> somebody has seen that weapon -- it's not a very firearm. we believe if somebody has recognized it, they may be able to help us solve the crime. >> investigators say the gun looks like a pistol or a shortened shot gun. it caught their attention because it's not the kind of gun they normally see in armed robberies. the feel male worker shot. she was shot in the arm. she's expected to survive. the two men got away with stolen cash. police say a third man was waiting outside acting as a lookout. an attorney in florida stirring up controversy after he created what he says is a way for drivers to get past dui checkpoints. brian flores is live in union city and says a video explaining this whole concept was gone viral. good morning, brian. >> reporter: good morning. so has the flier that he's created as well. it's available on the internet. i have a copy of it in my hand. it says i remain silent, no searches. i want my lawyer. now, the attorney in florida who made this says he's not antipolice, he wants drunk drivings off the streets but he wants drivers to be able to assert their rights. now, warren redlick has created the fliers for a number of states including california. he says you print out the flier pertaining to the state where you live. you leave it in your car. when you a approach a september checkpoint, you put the flier up against the window. you don't say anything at all. he says to hold up your license and registration against the window also, the cops take a look and he says likely they will look at it and let you there. he says this is meant to protect sober drivers from being falsely arrested. but we spoke to drivers in union city and they don't like it. >> the most common complaint i hear, you are helping drunk people get away with it. it. >> they have something to hide, you know, i really don't -- i don't -- i'm not for it. you know, i have kids and i don't think they would mind going through a checkpoint. >> reporter: many groups including mothers against driving, several law enforcement agencies say it's a legal loophole that may allow drunk drivings to get away with breaking the law, potentially putting other drivers at risk. law enforcement agencies cite that the 1990 supreme court decision that they do not violate against search and seizures. we hope to gather reaction throughout the morning, especially from the chp here locally to see how they feel about it. the website where thank you. a northern california man was found guilty of beating himself up and trying to pin it on police. the 33-year-old man from lucerne was brought in for questioning on a stalking and sex abuse case in oregon. you can see him turn toward the wall and hit himself in the face. authorities say the man punched himself at least 45 times, then claimed he was beaten up by detectives. he was found guilty of filing a false report and sentenced last week to 40 days in jail. 7:09. the lack of rainers toking california to consider new mandatory restrictions on outdoor water use. that may include banning outdoor water fountains like this one for homes and for businesses. and restaurants would only serve water upon request. hotels would no longer provide fresh towels and sheets every day. on top of that, homeowners would not be able to water their lawns during a cold or rainy day. the issue of whether to add fluoride to the water in sonoma will be talked about tonight at the city council meeting. sonoma gets 95% of its water from the county. the county is considering floor idation to prevent tooth decay. one critic arguing -- argues it's not safe. they want the city to challenge the county. 7:10. bay area baseball is officially back today. san francisco giants' pitchers and catchers report to scottsdale for spring training. the world series champions will be fine tuning their have a comum areas on -- a couple of areas on 580. 680 is slow out of pleasanton. some live pictures. i want to show you the bay bridge toll plaza. 25 to 30-minute delay about ten minutes on the way into san francisco. and if you are driving in san jose, this looks good. downtown san jose, northbound 280 not a bad commute from here all the way up to cupertino. let's go to steve. >> we have a lot of low clouds and fog. there are some breaks out there. which was not the case. i think we'll see -- lem every recording station shows cloudy. santa rosa's high yesterday 57. san francisco, 57. concord, 59. there's already signs the sun will be out a lot sooner today. napa said 61. san jose also at 59. today does look warmer. i think the -- can i be honest with you? yes, i'm gonna be honest with you. i to my own temperatures. the spread is depending on if the fog burns off. if it does, it could jump up about 8 degrees. it's tricky. low clouds, mild lows. 50s unless you are in the higher elevations. fog or sun and that sun, there is a lot of moisture in the air. the humidity factor is way up there. low clouds, humid, some sun. a little warmer into friday. and then a windy pattern over the weekend. what do you mean by that? well, there will be a low dropping in. it will be dry. but it will start to pick up the breeze. we'll clear out the low clouds and fog. maybe a pattern change. end of february, march. there are signs of that 54 san francisco. we'll go 59. monday, oakland was 7 a. yesterday they were 59. going 62 today. i think they will see the fog burn off. yesterday, it was sold out. that's not the case today. fog in the valley, radiation. fog on the coast. rare to get both and they've merged together in a few spots. the fog will be slow to burn off. it's lifted way out there. 50s on the temps. west at fairfield, 7. that's 10 miles per hour. south at concord, north at napa. yesterday it was west, west, west. the cold is beginning. it's taking the plunge. it will go down to the deep south. even into florida. temperatures single digit, some will not get above zero on thursday. that's how cold it is. the lake-effect snow, that's the key going right through kalamazoo, grand rapids. our weather guru guy is from there. it's just brutal. it's warmed up when you get the lake effect. it's 10 degrees there. higher clouds down to the south. a system to the east. that will be on sunday/monday. a low will settle ovaller us. it will be a week that it will be there. light breeze, low clouds. some sun. humid and if you don't have any fog or if that fog burns off fast, you will zoom up, upper 60s, 70s. 50s, 60s closer to the water. 64 walnut creek. but 59 alameda. 60s for many to mid-60s here. some areas never got above 59 in the south bay. on the peninsula, fog will be on the decrease after thursday, then sunny, mostly sunny, warmer. but sunday, monday, breezy. >> noticeably cooler. >> all right. thank you, steve. 7:22. leaving earth for good. we're learning more about the people who are eagerly volunteering for a one-way trip in outer space. in 20 minute, pam cook will tell us more about the candidates and their motivations to leave this planet. exactly what apple wanted. the high-tech features the apple watch will not have, after all. scientists have mapped america's quietest and loudest places. the findings were presented on monday at a conference in san jose. the map shows the average noise on a summer day. the yellow spots represent the loudest noise. scientists took one and a half million hours of acoustic monitoring and paired that with data on overhead air traffic and average summer precipitation. the national park service plans to use this map to pinpoint where human made noise might be taking a toll on wildlife. well, bart is about to start working on new technology. it's aimed at saving the lives of b.a.r.t. workers now that it has a $5 million federal grant. b.a.r.t. had asked for the federal funding after two workers were killed two years ago while working out on the tracks in walnut creek. the goal is to protect the crews working near the tracks by sending a warning signal on a special device when a train is approaching. b.a.r.t. officials say the system will improve safety. it will also let the trains operate at normal speeds even when maintenance crews are working. >> the trains could continue at their normal speed up to 75 miles an hour and the trackside workers would be in the loop and would be able to respond to an alarm and if they don't respond, then the trains would stop. >> now, b.a.r.t. and uc berkeley, they are working together to develop this system. officials hope to have it tested and then up and running before the end of the 2017. apple's stock is flat in early tradeling -- trading. it is trading at $127.78. yesterday, was the first fifth consecutive session in which apple stock set a record high close. the stock soared ahead of the launch of the new iwatch. they have ordered more than 5 million of the watches for the first one but the paper said they deleted several monitoring functions because they were too complex or did not work properly. the apple watch is expected to be available in april. another catholic school controversy in san francisco. the sexually explicit pamphlets handed out. >> reporter: we're live at the san francisco airport where there's been several security breaches. we'll tell you what the airport and travelers are saying. south bay commute? we're looking at traffic that is not all that bad as we take a live look at 280 at see that at this time yesterday. so i -- the west wind is not as pronounced. i think that's a sign that we'll see a little more sun. before we get ahead of myself, there is a lot of low clouds. we have two areas of fog. inland fog and coastal fog. big fog bank out there. there's some signs a little thinner there. a couple of breaks near the santa cruz coast. we'll seal clearing here today. more so. i hope so. yesterday we were socked in. 50s on the temps. low to mid. haven't moved all morning long. higher elevations have cooled down. 40s. a couple of days they were in the 60s. saratoga in there, sunnyvale not far away. changes are brewing. sure feels like it. sure hints at it. it wouldn't be as gee wet to the -- as we get to the weekend. a system develops coming from utah and nevada. it won't be until sunday/monday. it's there today. a light breeze, 50s, 60s and 70s but sun, a little more today than yesterday. which means warmer temperatures. mr. castanedo, update on the traffic. we're looking at slow traffic. we'll start off this time with a look at some of the south bay commutes. we'll start here on 101 in san jose northbound and you can see there's some slow traffic. it's kind of slow and go. not stop and go. if i show you the map of the south bay, you can see where all of the slow traffic is. 85, a little bit near 280 and 17 and 101 approaching 880. for some reason, northbound -- not for some reason, there was an earlier crash. look at all of the slow traffic here getting up to the area. so if you know some of the short cuts. you can use the lawrence expressway or use another freeway. right now, it is not doing very good at all. not doing very well at all. westbound dumbarton bridge, slow traffic as you head to the high rise agedz agedz-- high rise and the peninsula. to the bay bridge toll plaza, backed up for a 30-minute wait. back to the desk. >> thank you, sal. officials are looking at stepping up security at mineta airport of a another -- after another preach there. janine de la vega is there at the airport and has been talking with passengers about their concerns. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, tori. most travelers we have spoken to say they've heard of some of the breaches that have occurred. but they say they feel powerless because there's not much they can do. let's go to video ofs indent that happened on january 29th. it happened before midnight. it's difficult to see because this is the airport officials responding to a man that was able to scale the fence. you can see it's very dark. that man made it onto a service road. workers held him until police arrived. an airport spokesperson would not say what section the man was able to climb over. he didn't access the runway or the aircraft. it's .that their fence meets guidelines. but the airport is exploring whether to increase the height. here's what travelers had to say. >> it's the same thing with the white house. i mean, i guess if somebody wants to do something they shouldn't, they are gonna do it. >> i think somebody needs to be done here locally, whether we need more people patrollingth fence -- patrolling the fences, i don't know. i don't have the answers. technology should be key. >> reporter: the airport is working with the national safe guidelines alliance to enhance security through technology but they need to secure funding to invest in that. this is in response to a string of breaches including a teen who was able to stowaway in the wheel well of a jet that took off from san jose and then there is the case of a serial stowaway. marilyn hartman who was able to get past the checkpoint in san jose without a ticket and onto a flight. but again, airport officials say they have actually increased their perimeter checks around here of the fence and they keep saying that security is their top priority. back to you. >> janine de la vega, live at mineta airport. 7:36. later today, parents and students they will be gathering outside of an ash wednesday service in san francisco to protest a morality clause for teachers at catholic schools. this sparked outrage, when new guidelines were imposed for teachers at four catholic schools. the new rules require rejecting section outside of marriage, same-sex marriage, abortion and they are being asked to reconsider the clauses. there is another controversy at a catholic elementary school in san francisco. the chronicle is reporting that two weeks ago. students from second to sixth grade received pamphlets asking them about sex. the questions according to the report, include did i perform impure acts by myself or another. with the words adultery for an occasion, sodomy. as well as have i had or advised anyone to have an abortion. some of the parents told the chronicle their children are just too young for topics. so far neither the archdiocese or the school have been reached for comment. police in fremont are looking for a woman accused of posing a prostitute and robbing a customer. the victim said he met her on a website two weeks ago she called herself chrissy. they were at his home, and then he passed up. when he woke up, was tied up, and bound and was getting beat up by two men. she is described as having several tattoos, including stars across her chest. president obama convenes a summit to examine the roost causes of violent extreme. this comes on the heels of the paris and copenhagen terror attacks and the growth of isis around the world. however, the administration stresses the discussion will not center on the islamic faith but rather underlying idyologys that draw in and recruit. there is another disturbing allegation against isis. the group is accused of killing people and then harvesting their organs to finance its operations. iraq's ambassador to the united nations says in recent weeks bodies have been found in shallow graves and says the bodies have surgical incisions and are missing kidneys or other body parts. iraqi officials want the u.n. to investigate the charges which it seems are genocide. the lunar new year is almost here. it arrives tomorrow. here's claudine wong with some of the traditions of the chinese new year. >> reporter: the streets in san francisco's chinatown are bustling. everywhere you look, people are preparing to welcome in the new year with good fortune and good luck. >> what southbound as you drive past mission. it's okay here but just down the road we have slow traffic in the south bay on one particular freeway. we'll tell you about that. still a lot of fog out there. gray over the bay or on the bay whatever you want to say. but we to have breaks. i think we'll get more sun today. we'll have the forecasted temps -- coming up. 7:44. police in mountain view are hoping this new video will help them find two burglary suspects. it shows burglars arriving in a van outside an audio store on moffett boulevard last monday, february 9th. they break the door, full apart several display cases and steal equipment. several people drove by the store while this was happening. they want to hear from anyone who may have seen the van or the burglars. several people here in the bay area are among the 120 semifinalists for a one-way mission to mars. pam cook has more on who wants to go and why. >> it's hard to imagine that a lot of people who want to do this. they are down to 100 semifinalists. that's down to 200,000 applicants of people who want to head to mars. mars one foundation plans to send four people to mars in 2024 to create what they call a permanent colony. among the candidates are 50- year-old peter feldentrack. 36-year-old kendra of oakland. one woman who is an electrical engineer from missouri said she knows it will be dangerous but wants to send a message. >> a lot of intelligent girls out there. they really need to get out there and see that it's cool and that it's not just guys on tv that are engineers. there are important women out there. that's my personal goal. >> the candidates have to now prove themselves through rigorous training and if and when the four finalist head to mars ten years from now, their mission would be turned into a reality tv show but an m.i.t. study says even with new technology, they will probably only survive for 68 days. in our next hour of "mornings on 2," we hear from a well- known astronaut about this trip to mars and he does not approve. >> very interesting. okay, pam. just before 4:30 this morning. a prison van rolled over on westbound interstate 80 in fairfield. two people in the van were hurt. we don't know yet if they were prisoners or not. fire crew also to cut open the van to get both people out. one person is being treated for minor injuries at a hospital. the other patient didn't want to go to the hospital. still not clear yet what caused that accident. >> all right. want to check in with sal keeping a close eye on any accidents on the bay area road. how is the macarthur maze looking. >> it will be slow. westbound 580, we have a lot of slow traffic coming up to the bay bridge macarthur maze. it's not only slow at the bay bridge. but it's slow at the maze especially on 580 a little bit on 80. now, 80 today is better than it was. 36 minutes from the carquinez bridge to the macarthur maze. still kind of a hefty drive time. we can go fought bay bridge -- go to the bay bridge toll plaza. near moffett, there was a crash. this commute is terrible coming up into sunnyvale. i would do another way, perhaps one of the expressways or plan ahead for extra time on 85. 280 and 101 are looking another like a normal commute. let's go to steve. thank you. yesterday, what a change from 24 hours. before that, we had record highs on monday. i think you know what happened on the weekend. it was warm to hot with 70s and 80s. yesterday, i tell you, you plunge like that with fog. santa rosa is only 57. san francisco said we were, too. concord 59. name, 61. a was one of the warmest by far. san jose, 59. there are subtle hints that will be warmer because of the fog is beginning to lift far enough east. low clouds, muggy, humid. some sun, a little warmer into friday and then a wind yip pattern developpens 0 the weekend. a low will dig in from the north. it will stay mainly in nevada. that will chew up the fog. we'll to keep an eye on things for next week. firefighters still closely watching the scene of a big barn fire making sure it doesn't flare up again. the 4,000-qar foot barn is in napa near the county line. it took about an hour to contain those flames. the barn and five all-terrain investigation were heavily damaged. investigators still don't know how that fire started. calfire is already gearing up for a very busy fire season. they plan to hire 100 new firefighters. 1200 people have already applied for jobs. 300 of them were invited for interviews at calfire's morgan hill headquarters. now, this comes weeks ahead of schedule but calfire says this year has already been more dangerous than usual. >> we've had about 160 fires already since the first of the year and typically we're looking at about half of that normally. >> calfire is getting ready for what's called an active fire season. that's because the combination of barm, spring days with rain. that creates enough vegetation to start a fire that can quickly spread. a student at santa clara university is due in court tomorrow on a charge of stabbing his roommate. 19-year-old dylan kim was arrested yesterday afternoon. police say kim attacked his roommate in their on-campus dorm early yesterday morning. the roommate is suffering from several wounds but is expected to recover. kim is being treated for self- inflicted wounds. police in hayward arrested tyler johnson. police say johnson and martin thornton used a u-haul truck to break into life chiropractic college early friday morning. thornton's body was found next to the truck. autopsy results show he died of blunt force trauma. johnson did not share specific details about the death with police. investigators say the two men had no connection to the school. 7:55. state health inspectors are cracking down on home cooks who use social media to sell food without the proper permits. now, facebook food groo group -- food groups are becoming popular. it's a marketplace to sell homemade food to whoever wants it. but health inspectors say this trend is dangerous. many of piece theme are actually breaking -- people are actually breaking the law. under state cottage food law, people are allowed to sell nonperishable foods out of their homes. bun inspectors say a lot of the goods being offered on the facebook page are meant to be eaten right away which means they fall under the restaurant category. no one has made any complaints about getting sick. but the government says the food safety laws are tee designed to prevent foodborne illness. this woman prefers being the brides maid not the bride. steve. >> very foggy. i think we get more sun today. there's some signs of it, although there is a big fog bank. the valley fog, if you will and the coastal fog are circling the wagon. there are not a lot of breaks. low clouds, mild lows. it's cold. 40s up there. 50 on the temps. i think we'll get a few more breaks. if you do, the temperature will jump up 7, 8 degrees from the upper 50s to the mid- to upper 60s. a lot of clouds around. it will be isolated on the coast. a couple of breaks on the santa cruz coast down to monterey. there's plenty of low clouds. the inland fog will retreat back. 50s on these temps. fairfield clear and 46. that's why they are one of the colder ones. everyone has a lot of low clouds. if you have the cooler weather, you will probably get breaks. 50 in la fay la fayette. a lot of 40s. brutally cold, looking for dozen of record lows by thursday and friday all the way down to florida. it will be one for the record books here. for us, waiting for a change but it won't be until probably sunday/monday when a system will dig down from the north. maybe next week. there's hints of the early rain. humid if you get the sun. the breeze is not what it was yesterday. it's a lot less an variable a 50s, 60s to 70s. we're looking at a commute on the east shore -- on the east shore. we do have some slow traffic, document -- we do have slow traffic, to be sure. we've had a lot of heavy traffic in the south bay in the last hour. 85 between 280 and 101 northbound, i don't recommend it. we've had a couple of different crashes along the stretch. some of the other freeways are a better call. 101 is not that bad. but all of the freeways in the south bay are slow as we look at the dumbarton bridge. that's improved. and highway 101 heading south from san mateo is not that bad. back to the desk. >> thank you. two people stabbed inside a walgreens store near union square in san francisco and now three people are in custody in connection to the overnight attack. alex savidge is live at the walgreens with what led up to this double stabbing in a pretty popular area. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning. police are still trying to figure out what prompted this early-morning attack. police were able to take three people into kuld, though, following -- custody, though, following the stabbing and it happened inside the front doors of this walgreens on powell between ellis and o'farrell, a block or so away from union square. the place was closed down as police investigated this time. they were called out here about 2:00 this morning. investigators say there was some kind of an argument between two groups of people that quickly escalated. someone pulled out at knife and two people wound up being stabbed. police tell me that both of those people are in stable condition. officers searched the union square area for the attackers. we did see police take one man into custody at stockton and geary. it's unclear exactly what his connection was to the stab. police at the same time blocked off part of the square with crime scene tape as part of this conversation. it's unclear what if any evidence was found there. police still piecing together what led up to the stabbing. what the motive may have been. but it does appear as though those two people stabbed and rushed over to san francisco general hospital this morning will survive their injuries. >> alex savidge live for us near union square in in san francisco. thank you. an update now just in about the developing story in marin county. we've just learned that a missing runner has been found safe on mount tam. a park ranger says nathan wilson of san francisco left for a one yesterday afternoon around 3:00 p.m. and never came back. the search began about five hours ago, the marin county sheriff tweets that wilson spent the night on the mountain and returned to his vehicle this morning. he's being checked out pie pair med -- by paramedics. san jose police released footage of a shooting that led to the death of a security guard. just outside of the store, security guard manuel zuniga was shot and killed. he was working next door at a nightclub but he tried to stop the robbery. his friends say he didn't have to help but that's the kind of person that he was. so far, no arrests have been made. meantime, san jose police are soil searching for the gunman -- still searching for the gam outside of an nightclub outside of the dx nightclub on south capitol avenue. police say there was a confrontation inside the club. it spilled outside and that led to the shooting. a security guard and a nightclub patron were shot. wong died on sunday. the security guard is expected to survive, though, no arrests have been made so far. el cerrito police are hoping a rare gun may lead them to the gunman who robbed a little caesar's pizza restaurant and shot a female work erk. surveillance video from monday night shows two men going into the pizza shop and one of them hops over the counter while the other points a gun at the woman. the robbers' faces are covered but you can see the weapon and it is an unusual one. >> somebody has seen that weapon in the possession of someone we know. they may be able to help us solve the crimes. >> investigators say the gun looks like a pistol or a shortened shot gun. it caught their attention because it's not the kind of gun they usually see in armed robberies. the female worker was shot in the arm and is expected to survive. the two men escaped with stolen crash. police say a third man was waiting outside of the store acting as a lookout. a lawyer in florida is getting major attention creating a controversy after he created what he says is a way for drivers to get past the dui checkpoints. brian flores live in union city now and you say the instructions for the drivers -- this has gone viral. >> reporter: yes, and so has the flier. this florida dui attorney has created at least 12 different fliers pertaining to a specific state. . he says he's not antipolice. he wants drunk drivings off the police but he's for people asserting the rights. he's warren redlick of -- redlick. he says i remain silent -- the sign says i remain silent, i want my lawyer. you print out the flier, you leave it in your car and when you approach a sobriety checkpoint, you put the flier up against the window and you don't say anything at all to the cops. he also says hold up your license and rental straks against the window or put it in a plastic bag. the cops take a look at it and will likely let you there. this is meant to protect sober drivers from being arrested. he has plenty of clients against that. >> the most common complaint i hear, you are helping drunk people get away with it. using this requires you to be silent, parent and follow instructions. those are three things that drunk people are generally not good at. >> they have somebody to -- something to hide. i'm not for it. i have kids and i don't think they wouldn't mind, you know, going through a checkpoint. >> reporter: many groups including madd, several law enforcement agencies say it's a legal loophole that may allah drunk drivers getting a way with -- allow drunk drivers getting away with breaking the law. we're hoping to get comment from the chp this morning. we're not able to do that. if you want to look at the possession of the brass knuckles and two misdemeanors for failing to stop at the scene of an accident. the lack of rain is forcing california officials to consider new mandatory restrictions on outdoor water use. that may include banning outdoor water fountains for homes and businesses and restaurants. would only serve water upon request and hotels would no longer provide fresh towels and by the end of the month or march 1st. low clouds, some sun, muggy inland. coast and bay. a light breeze means 50s and 60s. once the fog burns off, a few mid-60s upper 60s to low 70s. here's sal. >> we're looking at slow traffic here on 80 westbound as we go right to 80 in the east shore. a 36-minute drive. this is better than yesterday. we still have slow traffic to see on 80 especially after richmond as you head down to the berkeley area. highway 4 also still slow over the hill to concord from baypoint and part of pittsburg. 680 severy slow from pleasant hill all the way down into danville. let's get us the bay bridge toll plaza pro project. traffic is backed up for 25, 30 minutes. we've had improvement on 85 northbound in sunnyvale. we had an earlier accident heading north. 101 is heavy in sunnyvale. 85 in the southern part of the south bay has improved. it's 8:32. back to the desk. >> all right. we now have the video released by mineta airport of the latest security breach at the airport last month. we asked for that video. we want to know if anything has changed since then. janine de la vega joining us live from san jose's airport to show you that video and also tell us what airport officials are saying. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning. the airport maintains that security is their top priority. but the question remains how are unauthorized people able to get past security and into restricted areas. the airport did release this video to us of the most recent incident on january 29th. it's very dark because it happened just before midnight. all you can see is airport officials responding to a man that was able to scale the fence and make it on a vehicle surface road. workers driving by stopped him and held him until police arrived. they pointed out the man never accessed the runways or the aircraft. >> we're seeking additional funding to enhance our our security program tharl that includes hiring the fenceline. our fence line does meet guidelines. but we're reviewing the possibility of increasing it and how we can incorporate technology. >> reporter: airport officials say this latest incident is an example of how they have been layers of security and their staff was able to stop this person before any threat materialized. there's been high-profile breaches including a teen who stowed away in the wheel well of a jet. those these breaches still leave travelers concerned. it's huge, very important. in my community, that's when it gets too close to home. we were talking about it on the way over here. why is this happening?
