"mornings on 2" starts now. and right now, a crash on interstate 880 is causing a big backup and creating a rough monday-morning commute for many drivers. we'll get to sal in moments. good morning. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm tori campbell. >> good morning. i'm dave clark. let's go right to sal for more on that crash on 880. >> the good news, they've cleave cleaned up it -- they've cleaned it up and moved it. but traffic is backed up from san leandro near davis. 238 is also slow. that's going to have an effect on interstate 580 coming out of the valley. the castro valley area down to the san mateo bridge turnoffs. so this is going to take a while to unwind but at least the lanes have been cleared. as you can see these live pictures from newschopper2. we are showing you where you get closer to where the crash was, they are opening the lanes there. these ramp mergers and stuff are still going to be -- and stuff are still going to be slow. we're seeing about a 10, 15- minute delay at the toll plaza which is normal and has improved from the first workweek that they opened the bridge. traffic is ordinary getting into the city. if you are going through san francisco, south of market is likely to be crowded because of oracle open world. howard street is closed between third and fourth. let's go to steve. our first full day of fall, it will be sunny and warmer. i can't find any fog unless it's up on the mendocino coast. we'll start off with mainly 50s on the lows. the stormtracker, jet stream is up towards the pacific northwest. it's clear. sunshine, warming up a little bit today. a couple of low 50s, even on the coast, half moon bay is 50. everyone in the same ball mark. fairfield, sunshine. warmer. 52. and then we'll go for a high of 81. not much of a breeze. a lot of sunshine. patchy fog north. temperatures are bumping up from saturday's system. 60s, 70s, coast and bay and low 80s inland. thank you, steve. right now, pg&e is working to repair a gas leak in san bruno. it's just three miles from the natural gas pipeline explosion in 2010 that killed eight people. this happened after 8:00 at san bruno and san mateo avenues when a caltrain construction crew hit the pipe. alex savidge is there with what he is hearing from pg&e on repairs. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning. repairs could take several more hours out here and a pg&e representative is telling me there is an investigation underway to try to figure out how a construction worker accidentally hit this two-inch gas line with a backhoe last night and the line we're talking about is across the street from our location inside this construction site in san bruno. right beyond the orange barriers. the line was spewing natural gas for about five hours into the early-morning hours before this leak was eventually capped. here's video we want to show you. it was a worker from granite construction who hit this line after 8:00 last night. this is on san bruno avenue. it's a $155 million project to raise caltrain tracks above the roadway in this area. pg&e crews came in and they were able to cap the leak by about 1:00 this morning. there were no evacuations ordered and part of the reason a pg&e representative says this is a bis district not a lot of homes in the direct vicinity of where this leak happened. in the end, no one was hurt. pg&e is trying to figure out how this construction crew hit a line that was marked. >> we actually do have pg&e gas representatives at all times when work is ongoing. we were able to respond quickly when they hit it. we'll continue to work with them so they know the location of our utility lines. >> this gas leak caused another issue. it forced caltrain is stop all of its trains last night. passengers had to be put on buses to get between the stations in this area. this morning a caltrain representative told us that everything, all of the trains are back on schedule and running normally at this time. this leak also made quite a few people nervous in this area. it happened just about three miles or so from the site of the deadly san bruno pipeline explosion back in 2010. where we stand this morning, pg&e crews have stopped the flow of natural gas after the line was ruptured in this area. they have a lot more work to do. a representative told me it will probably take several more hours and crews following developing news out of kenya, where al qaeda-linked terrorists are still believed to be holding hostages in a shopping mall. this is new video outside of the west gate mall. this is in nairobi. this happened this morning. you can hear the gunfire. kenya security forces are trying to regain control of the mall. gunmen attacked the mall on saturday killing at least 69 people and injuring 175 more. an american from north carolina describes the terrifying scene. >> we stood up and we started to turn and the second -- and then we heard machine guns, and then we started to run and there was a second explosion which knocked us on the ground. >> reportedly the gunmen specifically targeted nonmuslims. an al qaeda-linked group is claiming responsibility for the attack on the shopping mall. coming up at 7:15, the fbi investigation into reports that some americans are among the attackers. one of the injured victims is a uc berkeley graduate. elaine dane posted a photo of herself getting treatment for facial cuts and is hoping the shootings and the attacks don't have people thinking badly of the people. back here at home, oakland police are investigating a deadly shooting. it happened just after 11:00 last night on "e" street near elmhearst. police say he died at the scene. we don't know his name. it has not released. no arrests so far. oakland could revisit a controversial plan to cut down on scream. tara moriarty is live where a -- on crime. tara moriarty is live with more. >> reporter: well, a city councilman represents the fruitvale district and says he wants to finally do something. he's gonna be presenting his proposal on the council. this ban would penalize the kids under 18 and their parents if they are caught out in public after 10:00 at night. most say that -- some say most of the children being targeted don't have adult supervision to begin with. oakland leaders tried about two years ago to enact a curfew but failed to garner support. among the concerns, a curfew would tie up valuable resources. mayor jean quan has not said whether we would support the curfew, only that she's considering. we've reached out to the councilman to see if he will be willing to give us an interview. talk about the issue. that's it from here. tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. later this morning, b.a.r.t. management and its unions will be back to the bargaining table. now, according to b.a.r.t., there are meetings scheduled for every day until the cooling- off period ends october 10th. b.a.r.t. says that should give enough time to reach an agreement and also avoid a strike. meetings are expected to start at 9:30 on most days. they will be focusing on wages, pensions and medical contributions. b.a.r.t. says the latest offers from both sides, they are about $112 million apart. the faa could relax some rules about electronic devices on planes. the proposed changes would mean you would be allowed to use portable devices during takeoffs and landings. talking on cell phones and texting would still be offlimits. if approved, the new policy takes effect next year. it's not even open but there's already a park prok blege at the 49ers' stadium -- problem at the 49ers' stadium. and with the world leaders gathering today, which issues will be the focus of president obama and the shocking meetings that may plake tase -- may take morning, one of the leaders of the somalia group is selling the bbc that americans were not among the mall attackers. that's despite a tweet by al- shabab. this included names and home states of americans. tweets were sent out in english. cnn and nbc say fbi officials are tracking down leads in the minneapolis area which is home to one of the largest somalia populations in the united states. when i talked to the fbi 30 minutes ago, a spokesman would not confirm they are, in fact, investigating. reporting live in washington, jacqueline fell, ktvu channel 2 news. about an hour from now, president obama heads to new york where he will join other world leaders for the 68th session of the united states general assembly. there are reports that president obama might meet with iran's new president but so far there's been no official announcement. president obama is scheduled to address the general assembly tomorrow. he's expected to focus on syria, iran, and the palestinian peace effort. a panel on climate change is preparing to give world leaders a global update. since just before the start of the 21st century, they say the earth's average temperature has failed to rise. right now the panel created by the united nations is trying to agree on the reason for this. one reason, the pacific ocean is absorbing most of the heat. rescuers in mexico digging in the mud looking for people in a landslide. 68 people are missing. more than 100 people have been found dead. this was caused by two storm systems that affected most of mexico's 31 states. food prices are going up dramatically because of food shortages blamed on washouted roads and bridges. new video showing a typhoon roaring through china. it blew trucks on its sides, damaged hundreds of homes. also, knocked down trees and power lines. the chinese government news agency reporting at least 25 people have been killed. more than 200,000 have been forced to relocate. airlines are dealing with hundreds of canceled flights. joe biden will tour the damage caused by deadly flooding in colorado. biden will get the chance to see the recovery efforts firsthand as rescue crews continue to search for hundreds of people who are still reported missing. the flooding has killed seven people and damaged and destroyed 18,000 homes. after the tour biden will return home to washington, d.c. the flooding in colorado could end up costing homeowners, businesses and the government nearly $3 -- $2 billion. the cost to rebuild homes, roads and bridges are expected to be $1.3 billion. then when you factor in the cost for lodging, environmental cleanup and loss of economic activity, it all adds up to about $2 billion. police in south san francisco want your help. they are investigating a crash that injured a woman who was out riding a bike with her daughter. the 47-year-old woman and her 4- year-old daughter were hit by a car last wednesday on forbes boulevard. the woman's daughter was not hurt. now, police say the driver did stop and did cooperate and they don't think drugs or alcohol were involved. investigators still want to talk to witnesses. if you have any information get in contact with the police. 7:17. want to check in with sal and especially with the big problem on 880 in the east bay. >> we're checking on that. we're also looking at the south bay, we're looking at the bay bridge. first we're gonna start off in 280. you're looking at this live picture. in san jose downtown, you are gonna see a lot of slow traffic. we don't have any crashes reported along the way, heading into the west valley. want to show it up to you on a map. the traffic is slow on 85 as you can see. it's slow on 101. but not as bad. if you are driving in fremont, it looks okay but southbound 880 we had the earlier crash in hayward right where that indicator is. it's on the shoulder. it's still there but the damage is there, even all of the lanes are opened. the traffic is still slow. it's improving now that the crash is out of the lanes. let's move along and take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. that is backed up for about a 25-minute delay. a lot of people getting into san francisco right now. 7:18. let's go to steve. severe clear. fog is up north. i can't find any here. starting off mainly 50s. just heard from chloe in clearlake, 47. there are a couple. mainly 50s. sunshine, nice by noon, sunny, warmer this afternoon, not much of a breeze either. everything as far as cloud cover is staying north. pretty good rainfall here and in the sierra even up on the north coast. pretty good rain as well. not a bad first system at all. 32 in tahoe. 43 reno. 50s, low to mid- to upper. but half moon bay is 50. sfo says 58. very low 50s. a little bit of rain maybe towards eureka crescent city. some of that low cloud deck is kind of hugging the mendocino coast. they are getting rain where they don't need it. that's in boulder and denver. the system that gave us the rain has moved through. it's moving through east. over the last 24 hours denver had more rain. that system will amplify and dig orders the sierra nevada. but not until wednesday. mostly clear, kind of clear. it looks like maybe one and done on the rain. the sierra expects another system. that could give us more rain and snow. it will give us wind here. that won't be until wednesday. so if you are making plans, put that down for changing weather. patchy fog at best. but it has not developed. 80s, upper 70s. that time of the year when there's not as big of a difference. 70 in alameda. 84 antioch. 78 see a little cooldown starting tomorrow. everything today says sunshine and warmer temperatures. a couple of 40s on the lows. a lot of 50s. there's not much of a breeze. low 50s, mid-50s to upper 50s but there's not a huge difference. fairfield, sunny and warmer. starting off cooler. 52. 70 at noon and then 81 for a high. under a dome of weak high pressure. sunshine, maybe a patch or two of some fog. not much around here. it will be warmer. highs 70s to 80s inland. here's sal. right now traffic is going to busy all over the place. this is the peak of the morning commute. if you are driving in contra costa county, you see highway 4. slow traffic as you try to make your way over the hill, we haven't had that many crashes here. in fact, highway 4 has been quiet crashwise but not trafficwise. moving a long and taking a look at the bay bridge toll plaza, the traffic here is moving along okay. getting into san francisco with no major problems. i do want to mention the south bay traffic is busy. we're also getting word of a crash with no injuries, southbound 101 at embarcadero. want to show you that 880 southbound is very slow. we had the earlier accident southbound 880 at "a" street. that's gone now. traffic is still backed up into san leandro. we've been reminding you about this a lot of howard street is closed between third and fourth or oracle open world. you just saw the live picture. just want to let you know that traffic is going to be very, very slow south of market because of that closure. back to the desk. >> thank you. people who frequent a park in santa clara worry it will be destroyed because of a parking problem at the new 49ers ears stadium. city leaders are trying to come up with a solution. janine de la vega joins us from santa clara now to explain. good morning, janine. good morning. we're here at the natural stack area, about half a mile away from levi stadium. this is one of the sites the city is considering to put soccer fields here. the parking has already become a problem next door to the stadium. city leaders know it will only get worse once the stadium opened. they met to discuss a variety of options one of the proposed places is this area. park visitors have started a group called save ul istack. they fear moving the soccer fields to the open space will open it. but city leaders are not saying the park would be destroyed -- are saying the park would not be destroyed. >> of course i understand the concerns. there's 40 acres there. the staff has located the area where the field would be is close to existing development. so it would not upset the butterfly gardens. >> reporter: there are two locations being considered by the city. in the meantime, the solve the parking issue at the stadium, the plan is to allow 6,000 cars on the fairways of the city- owned. go course. it's a temporary fix because the retail parking shop is planned. reporting live from santa clara, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. 7:33. the 49ers' star line backer aldon smith will not play this thursday night after being arrested for dui last night. the team announced ed will be taking an indefinite leave -- announced he will be taking an indefinite leave to get treatment. smith talked to reporters yesterday after the 49ers lost to the colts. >> this a problem -- this is a problem. this is something that i will get fixed. i will do everything in my power to make sure this never happens again. >> he was arrested last year in miami on a dui reduced to reckless driving. he also faces a civil lawsuit for an incident at his home where he sustained a minor stab wound. york did not say when he would play again. police are searching for a man accused of attacking a woman after their dogs got into a fight along the sutton lake trail. investigators say the man wrapped a leash around the 60- year-old woman's neck, wripped -- ripped off her glasses and threw the phone in the lake. he's described as white, 50 years old, 6 feet tall with a thin build. he had a brown and gray beard. his dog may have been a brown and white australian shepherd. today a teachers' union will file a lawsuit to keep city college from san francisco to being shut down. today, the california federation of teachers will announce it is suing in san francisco superior court on behalf of 85,000 students and 1500 faculty members. congress has seven days to pass a spending bill or face a government shutdown. >> i don't think in america we should throw tantrums when we lose elections and threaten to shut down the government and refuse to pay bills. >> the representatives in the house of representatives agreed to fund everything except for president obama's healthcare law. >> i think the house should hold its ground and begin to pass smaller continuing resolutions one department at a time. it should start with funding the military, send it over and let's see harry reid is willing to shut down the million because he wants to force obamacare. >> president obama said he would veto any legislation that defunds the affordable care act. thousands of people from around the world are in san francisco for oracle's big conference. pam event. you can see the cones out. the traffic moving along slowly. we caught up with some people who are out there this morning. >> this is like the mecca of knowledge for the next generation of expected to spend more than $3400 each for hotels, restaurants, taxis and registration fees. mayor ed lee joked that he would be happy to shut down streets. again, shutdown streets. this is our live to court. the "chronicle" reports that news century is suing the. the club charged more than $33,000 in strip club services on a company credit card and oracle has not paid up. it allegedly happened over two nights during the open world conference last year. this year's conference ends on thursday. a political group in berkeley is under investigation for allegedly breaking campaign laws. >> the daily cal reports the berkeley democratic club is accused of paying off homeless people to not spread the allegations. it will be another week before the rim fire is fully contained near yosemite. full containment is expected by october 1st. right now it's 84% contained. the flames destroyed more than 100 buildings including the berkeley tuolumne family camp. rain over the weekend caused erosion in many areas. closing arguments start today in santa clara county in a trial over what should be done with old lead paint. ten california cities and counties are suing paintmakers for almost a billion dollars. the lawsuit claims the companies knew for decades that lead paint can people off and be dangerous. alameda, san mateo, and san francisco counties, they are among the plaintiffs that want the companies to remove lead paint from millions of older homes. it's believed there are five million homes with lead paint in the cities and counties that filed that lawsuit. 7:39. long distance commuters and bay area investors are driving up home prices again in the san joaquin prices. prirts are up 30% in the last year. but -- prices are up 30% in the last year. realtors say more bay area workers want to buy and that's pushing would-be buyers into bidding wars for the best properties. starting this afternoon, casual carpoolers in san francisco will have a new pickup location. the current location is at beal street north of folsom. at 3:00 that will change to the west side of spear street between howard and folsom, the change in location is because of construction work at the transbey terminal. this stecket exd -- this is expected to last for the next 18 months. [ cheers ] >> anna gunn won for her work on the show. clair danes and jeff daniels won emmys in "homeland" and "the newsroom." netflix won as well. it was honored for best directing and won two creative arts emmys for casting and cinematography. starting tonight, you can catch "modern family" right here on channel 2. it will be airing weeknights at 6:30 right after the news at 6:00. a blockbuster or a flop. how many iphones were sold over the weekend and new security, not so secure. how a german club claims it can bypass the iphone's new fingerprint lock. the key question being asked today in court in the boston marathon bombing case. good morning. we do have traffic that's getting busier on all of the commutes around the bay. but happily 880 in oakland still looks decent. other parts do not. already clear skies. no fog to be found. temperatures will be warming up. will it last for a couple of days. we'll have the forecasted temperatures coming up in ten minutes. well, stock market edging lower in early trading today. investors weigh the potential of the budget fight in washington, d.c. the dow is down 40. the nasdaq is down 11. s&p down 7. apple says it is already sold out of the next generation iphone 5-s, at least until next month. the company says it sold a record-breaking 9 million iphones since the 5-s devices debuted. part of the reason, international sales included china for the first time. apple's stock is up 4% after finishing down 1% on friday when iphone 5 sales started. apple is not commenting on claims by german hackers that they've already found a way around the new iphones' security feature. members of the chaos computer club, say they were able to fake their way past the fingerprint lock. they say they photographed a fingerprint from a glass surface, put it on latex film and used that to get past the fingerprint sensor. the hackers say people should keep using their older security techniques. 7:45. happening right now, the search for two missing crew members after a helicopter crash. planes are searching the red sea between africa and the arabian peninsula. three crew members were rescued but the two others are missing. that crash helicopter was based in san diego. it operated from the destroyer william lawrence. the navy says the crash was not caused by hostile activity. frank edwin koehler. [bell tolling] >> the chief of navy chaplains read during a memorial in washington, d.c. yesterday. president obama says the attacks after the shooting should lead to a troops formation of america's gun laws. >> not accepting the shootings as inevitable but asking what can we do to prevent them from happening again and again and again. >> this is the fifth time president obama has comforted the nation after a mass shooting. the president says he will keep pushing for new gun control measures. it is 7:46. today a federal court hearing in the boston marathon bombing case will focus on the protocol for seeking the death penalty. lawyers for bombing suspect, dzhokhar tsarnaev, will ask a judge about a prosecutor's time line for recommending the death penalty. attorney general eric holder will make the final decision. the bombings on april 15th killed three people and wounded more than 260 others. dzhokhar tsarnaev is also charged with killing an m.i.t. police officer. a mortar shell landed in a compound in the russian embassy in syria. syrian rebels are reportedly behind the attack. earlier this month, the u.s. and russia drafted a plan calling for syria to give up the chemical weapons. that averted a possible u.s. strike. over the weekend, the syrian government handed over an inventory of the stockpile and syria's president says there's no need for military threats against the country. >> translator: international opposition for war will add opposition within the u.s. because there's no justifications for it. >> this week, the yuns united nations will vote on action if syria fails to comply with the terms. on friday, 24-year-old suspected gang member danny coleman was arrested. investigators say coleman hit and killed 63-year-old carmen zuballa and 62-year-old cristina castro. the women were on their way to work at san jose airport at the time. castro's husband didn't want us to show his face but talked about the arrest. >> it's very sad this happened. but we have to move on. i'm very happy that it being -- that the guy has been arrested. >> police say coleman had help avoiding arrest. but so far, no other arrests have been made. want to check in with sal and see what's going on on the roads this morning. >> we have a big problem in marin county. i'm just gonna put it up on the map here. northbound 101 at atheretop avenue in -- atherton avenue in marin county. that highway is closed northbound because of police activity. apparently police found a body at atherton avenue and closed the freeway in both directions for a time. now southbound traffic has been reopened. northbound traffic is a mess coming from novato so if you are driving to petaluma, you will see slow traffic. the problem is since it's creating a big backup southbound. northbound 101 in novato highway 101 closed for police investigation of a body on the road here. also nearby there's a car fire on 37 westbound at the sonoma raceway. the traffic is going to be a mess week. many ski resorts are hoping this will turn into good news for the businesses come this winter. right now, some resorts have scheduled their opening date for late november. 7:52. sad story an avid base jumper from napa county died over the weekend in a parachuting accident on mountain selina. the man traveled all over the word to experience his world of base jumping. it's not known what caused him to crash. the napa county sheriff's office says the investigation continues. a controversy plan to crack down on crime in oakland. who is targeted by the plan and why some say it violates civil rights. local gasoline prices are down a few ceants but they may go even lower in just a few weeks. there's no way someone with an iq of a 10-year-old could abduct two seens -- teens. number one at the box office. gasoline prices nationwide are down about 6 cents in the last two weeks and may go lower. the average price in the continental united states is just over 3.50 now. part of the reason, a reduction in the threat of a military strike against syria and no technical problems at any refinery. the california average is $3.97 a gallon. that's up 16 cents from the first of this month. but bay area prices have slipped slightly in the last week according to aaa. san francisco still has the highest priced gas in the country at 4.08. it's 4.01 in san jose and oakland's price, 3.99. analysts calf prices could drop as much as 45 cents by halloween as we switch over to winter blend gas. later this morning, san francisco mayor ed lee will kick off electric vehicle week in the bay area. this is a response to the governor's effort to get 1.5 million zero-emissions cars on the roads by 2025. the mayor is inviting bay area drivers to find out about the cars. events are planned throughout the city this entire week. organizers of the bay area's first bike sharing network say interest is growing in the program. the bike share has recorded nearly 14,600 trips across san francisco, redwood city, palo alto, mountain view and san jose. the total annual membership count is under 2100. the number of one to three-day- a-week users is now more than 3400. only two bikes have been reported so far in san francisco. police were able to recover one of those stolen bikes. 7:58. it was a really wet saturday all across the bay area. but despite the recent rain, 2013 was the driest year in recorded history so far. if it doesn't pick up, we could be in trouble come next summer. and pg&e crews this morning working to repair a broken gas line at this construction site in san at sonoma raceway westbound closed because of a car fire. traffic backed up all the way into vallejo on 37. i wouldn't use 37. i would use the richmond aboutic to get over -- bridge to get over to 37. if you do that, you will be stuck in traffic. the toll plaza is backed up for 30, 40 minutes. the traffic will be busy. in san francisco, the oracle open world convention is going on. howard street is closed between third and fourth. a lot of people expected earlier and south of market during this week when oracle is going on. it usually gets crowded. the best way to get down there is b.a.r.t. b.a.r.t. is on time. let's go back to the desk. at 8:03. last night's gas pipeline leak in san bruno, it's been capped but pg&e crews are still out there making repairs. the leak started about 8:00 last night at the intersection of san mateo and san bruno avenue. ktvu's alex savidge has been there since 4:30 this morning, you are back with the latest on the work that still needs to be done. good morning, alex. the flow of gas has been stopped out here but there's still quite a bit of work left to be done for pg&e. crews are busy replacing that broken section of gas line here. it was ruptured late last night here and crews are telling meal that what happened was this -- telling me that what happened was this line was hit by a backhoe. the repair work probably won't be done until 1:00 this afternoon. the accident happened at 8:00 last night at this construction site on san bruno avenue. it's a $155 million project to raise the caltrain tracks above the road in this area. pg&e came in and they capped the leak. no evacuations had to be ordered. that was mainly because this is a business district is no homes in the immediate area. now pg&e is trying to figure out how the crew hit a line that was marked. >> an investigation is yawnd underway as to why they hit the line. they reported it immediately. they got a crew out here immediately to get the situation safe. we're investigating into why the incident happened. >> reporter: and last night's gas leak forced caltrain to stop all trains. this morning, caltrain is back on schedule and running normally. this leak also happened just about three miles away from the site of the deadly san bruno pipeline explosion back in 2010. a pg&e representative told me depending upon the outcome of this investigation, they will be doing a full investigation to figure out what exactly went wrong. it's possible that conthe construction -- that the construction company involved could be forced to pay for the cost of the line. that repair work likely won't be wrapped up until 1:00 this afternoon. we're live in san bruno, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. we're still following developing news from kenya where al qaeda-linked terrorists are still holding -- believed to be holding hostages inside a shopping mall. you're looking at video from outside of the westgate mall in nairobi. you can hear some of the gunfire. kenyan forces are trying to regain control of that shopping mall now. gunmen attacked the shopping mall saturday killing at least 69 people and injuring 175 more. an american woman from north carolina several shootings and other crimes in the neighborhood. six people believed to haven -- believed to have tied up victims in a murder case are due in court. they are charged with killing steven reeve he was tied up on brussel street last december along with a woman badly injured. prosecutors say the defendants and the victims knew each other. the trial starts for the man accused of trying to rape one of his teachers at summit preparatory high school in redwood city. this is a picture of 1-year-old david velasquez. when he was 19, prosecutors say he tried to force his teacher into the consider at knifepoint. when she fell to the ground, he reported i will tried to rape her. he's being charged with four felonies. a woman is on suspicion of offering a bribe during a rape trial in san jose. the woman offered offered $30,000 to the alleged victim in the case, according to the paper, so she wouldn't testify. prosecutors say the woman did not take the bribe. 53-year-old jeffrey chambers is on trial on suspicion of raping his relative in 2011. the woman accused of offering the bribe could be charged when the trial is over. her name has not been released to the jury. 8:10 in a couple of desk. >> thank you, sal. frustration is building among people who live near a wetlands plea serve -- preserve who fear it will be ruined in the santa clara area. controversy started because city leaders found out there is a lack of parking spaces at the 49ers' stadium. janine de la vega is live from santa clara. you just talked to one of the residents pretty upset about this. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, dave. yes, she is. she says people move here to the neighborhood to be close to the ulistack area. we see many people here walking their dogs, using the trails. the city is looking to put soccer fields here. parking has already been a problem for people who use the youth soccer field next door to the levi stadium. city leaders know it will only get worse when the stadium opens. they met to discuss a variety of options on where to locate the soccer field. one of the proposed spaces is the ulistack area which has natural grounds, a butterfly garden, it has a burial ground. there is a group started called save ulisack and they started to hand out fliers. they fear trees will be cut down and abe mals will be scared off -- animals will be scared off. an organizer says this attracts hundreds of people. >> they've spent thousands and and thousands and thousands of dollars working and putting the natural flowers and plants back into this park. >> reporter: city leaders say the park would not be destroyed. it is 40 acres. they say only a small portion would be used for parking. it would be used for the soccer fields, excuse me. they say the wetlands and butterfly garden would not be impacted. they believe if a soccer field is put there, it would attract more visit ears to the area. there are two other locations being considered by the city. the plan is to allow about 6,000 cars on the fairways of the city-owned golf course. it's a temporary fix because a retail shopping area is planned for the plan. the city will reach out to the francisco strip club is taking oracle to court. new century theater is suing oracle claimingage oracle employee charged more than 33,000 in strip services on a company credit card and oracle has not discrimination filed against abercrombie & fitch. one of the cases involved honey con, a worker at the hillsdale mall. she was fired from her job in the stockroom for wearing a religious scarf. details will be announced at 10:00 a.m. this morning. many amazon workers are upset about the time they spend going through security checks and have filed a lawsuit. workers say they are not being paid for the time it takes to go through anti-theft checks at the beginning and end of their checks. they add it can take as long as a half-hour a day. a similar in nevada resulted in employees being paid for that time. the trial in the michael jackson case against aeg, that trial is expected to start tomorrow. the lawsuit was filed by michael jackson's mother. it accuses aeg of hiring and supervisor dr. conrad murray, the man convicted of the death of michael jackson. last week, jury members heard final testimony from jackson's long time personal doctor and lawyer. police searching for a man suspected of attacking a woman after their dogs got into a fight. it allegedly happened yet morning at 9:00 at sonoma valley regional park. investigators say the man wrapped a leash around the 60- year-old woman's neck. ripped off her eyeglasses and threw her cell phone into the lake. he then reportedly kicked her dog and ran off. now, the man described as a white man about 50 years old. 6 condition. but it's not a good sign. things are not looking good. byron highway is closed. we have a crew on the way. byron highway will be closed for further investigation right here. this is one of child has died. he or she was struck by a car earlier this morning on byron near the middle school. we've lost our picture temporarily. the car struck the child at 7:45 on byron highway near hoffman lane. the chp now confirming this is a fatality. they are going to have byron highway closed for the investigation. we'll have more on that coming up. let's take a look at some other issues right now. the traffic is moving along relatively well as you drive to the bay bridge toll plaza. it's improving. this is what it is supposed to look like. 15 to 20-minute delay before you make it on the span. highway 101 is still closed at atherton avenue between san marin and atherton because of a body found there on the road. southbound 101 is very slow because of the rubbernecking. 101 in northern marin following the breaking news in contra costa county. these are live pictures. an 11-year-old child, you heard sal just report, a child on a bike was hit and -- by a car and killed near excelsior middle school in byron. newschopper2 is over the scene. this happened about an hour ago on byron and hoffman. byron highway will be closed during the investigation. we'll bring you additional details as we get them. northbound lanes on highway 101 in novato are closed because a body was found on the road about 90 minutes ago between san marin drive and atherton avenue. the chp has not said when those lanes will reopen. all morning long pg&e crews have been repairing a broken pipeline in san bruno. it happened three miles from the site of the explosion in 2010 that killed eight people and destroyed several homes. alex savidge is there now where the gas leak was capped early this morning but pg&e says there's still work to be done out there alex. >> reporter: well, pg&e stops the flow -- stopped the flow of the natural gas. but they still have quite a bit of work to do. they have to at this point replace this broken gas line that runs right through this construction site behind us. all of that work we're told probably won't wrap up until 1:00 this afternoon. a pg&e representative tells me a worker hit this 2-inch natural gas line with a large backhoe like the one you see here at this job site. the accident happened after 8:00 last night at this construction site on san bruno avenue. this is a $155 million project to raise the caltrain tracks above the road in this area. now, there were no evacuations ordered as a result of this leak. that was mainly because this is a business district. there aren't many homes in the immediate area. pg&e crews capped the leak after 1:00 this morning. a representative told me this gas line was clearly parked. so now there will be an investigation to figure out what went wrong. >> we actually do have pg&e gas representatives at all times when work is ongoing. we were able to respond quickly last night when they hit it. we'll continue to work with them so this know the location -- so they know the location of our isle lines. >> reporter: this gas leak forced caltrain to stop all of the trains last night. that's because of the proximity to the train tracks here. passengers were put onto buses so they could get between stations but this morning, caltrain is back on schedule according to a representative and all trains are running on time. a pg&e representative also told me depending upon the outcome of this investigation, the private contractor, granite construction, could be forced to pay for the cost of repairing the line. a representative from granite construction called me and said she doesn't have any information at this point about what went wrong but is gathering information and will issue a statement later on this morning. we're live in san bruno, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank
