san francisco police need your help finding her missing 2-year-old daughter. this is ariana fitts. ariana's mother was found dead on friday. >> i'm trying to stay positive that we'll see her again safely. mostly i'm just scared that she's out there and we don't know where she is. want her home. >> police say the girl could be in the bay area or southern california. joe vazquez is following the case and we'll have an update from him at 6:30. last week's deadly police shooting in san francisco is raising questions about the use of force as kpix 5's mark kelly shows us people who live in the city have conflicting views when it comes to nonlethal aupshzs. -- options. >> reporter: a homeless man police say was wielding a knife. >> what does that tell you that it happened so fast? >> just tells me they don't have compassion or patience. >> reporter: in the mission district luis cisneros said they should have known after the shootings. san francisco police are banned from carrying stun guns and some like it that way. >> because weapons will hurt and sometimes kill people. >> reporter: on kpix 5 news sunday morning deputy chief tony chaplain told phil matier that stun guns aren't a silver bullet. >> if someone is advancing on you with a knife, you're not going to use a taser, right? >> it all depends on at what point that person is coming at you, their distance, can you deploy the weapon. obviously if they're closing the distance rapidly, no, you're not. >> reporter: crisis intervention training has been teaching officers nonlethal options, such as to slow down, create distance, and call for help. still, this latest fatal shooting happened and it once again has the community divided. >> for them to do it again is shameful. >> but i think most of them are trying to keep people safe in doing their best. i don't think anybody wants to murder somebody. >> reporter: in the mission district, mark kelly, kpix 5. at uc berkeley, more alleged victims of sexual assault are coming forward. -- sexual harassment are coming forward. the students will be joined by one who sued the university who said she was sexually harassed by the dean of the law school. it revealed 17 sexual harassment cases dating back to 2008. esteban nunez, the convicted killer and son of a politician is now a free man. back in 2008, nunez and another defendant were convicted of stabbing 22-year-old luis santos to death in san diego. they were sentenced to 16 years in prison, but before leaving office, then-governor arnold schwarzenegger shortened his sentence to seven years. his father, former assembly speaker fabian nunez, is a political ally of schwarzenegger. three women and two toddlers were killed in a crash in sacramento county. several of the people were from modesto. the driver of the car the victims were in tried to pass a number of cars before slamming head on in to a pickup truck. >> it's unfortunate that somebody would take that chance to pass vehicles on a busy stretch of freeway here and would make the difference of maybe two to three minutes in your time of travel. >> four passengers inside the pickup truck are expected to be okay. it's not clear whether slick roads were a factor in the crash. police came across an apparent burglary in process in san francisco that happened at justin drive and college avenue. the suspect came out the front door then scampered inside when he saw police, then jumped out a side window and ran, crossing interstate 280 in to a different neighborhood, then he fell and hurt himself, and that's when police got him. an ambulance took the suspect away. nobody was in the house where he broke in. tomorrow governor jerry brown is set to sign legislation that will strengthen the state's paid family leave program. currently the state provides workers with 55% of their pay for up to six weeks to bond with a new child or care for a sick family member. the proposed legislation would increase that pay to 60% to 70% depending on income level. it's expected to take effect in 2018. >> a prominent hiv/aids doctor says an end to the pandemic is near. the man who began fighting the aids epidemic said when he started treating patients decades ago, he had no idea how rapidly the disease would spread. now he thinks an end to the disease is closer than ever. >> instead of talking about an achievable goal, i'm going to be talking about a goal that has been achieved. and that's going to be a very fine day. >> san francisco still averages about one new infection every day but health officials say their goal is to reduce that by 90% by the year 2020. a former nfl player gunned down in an apparent case of road rage. what we're learning about the investigation. >> donald trump responds to the boston globe's parody of him in its sunday edition. you can hear his message to the newspaper. explosion in southern india. "firework explos more than 100 people are dead after a fireworks explosion in southern india. thousands will pass in to a hindu temple to celebrate the end of a festival with a fireworks show. that's when it ignited and sent off a separate blast of fireworks. close to 400 others were injured. britain's prips william and his wife -- wince william and his wife kate said they were saddened by news of the firework explosion and sent their thoughts to those helping the victims. the royal couple capped their first day with a charity ball at mumbai's taj mahal palace hotel. earlier they toured a sacred water tank. a former football player for the new orleans saints is dead after a car accident. will smith played defensive end in the nfl for 10 seasons. police say he was driving an suv last night in new orleans when he was rear ended by a hummer. smith and the other driver, cor del hayes, got out and argued. the police chief says the conflict escalated with hayes resorting to violence. >> the driver of the hummer, later identified as cor del hayes and smith exchanged words. hayes opened fire on smith and his wife. >> hayes stayed on the scene. he's been booked on charges of second degree murder. smith's wife has a leg wound but it's not life-threatening. turning to the race for the white house now, the state of new york holds center stage in the presidential race. for candidates from both parties, momentum and large number of delegates are at stake. brian webb reports. >> reporter: hillary clinton took her presidential message to the pulpit with a one-two punch. she connected her candidacy to president obama and used former president bill clinton to sing her praises. >> she was a senator, in the white house for eight years. >> reporter: bernie sanders visited brooklyn's famed coney island. he's no longer questioning clinton's qualification, just her judgment. >> a candidate who voted for the war in iraq, a candidate who voted for virtually every disastrous trade policy, which of course lost millions of job. >> reporter: sanders has scored a string of recent victories but a recent fox news poll shows clinton topped sanders 53% to 7%. the next poll shows donald trump with a strong lead in new york. he told supporters in rochester he'd bring back jobs. >> if i get elected, rochester is going to boom again. >> reporter: john kasich insists he's staying in the race because he's the best bet for a republican white house win. ted cruz picked up 34 delegates in colorado this weekend, making it more likely the fight for the nomination will go all the way strangers to meet and exchange money for the first time. >> we're providing a location that's marked, well lit and under camera surveillance. >> reporter: cops won't be standing here but it's right in front of the police department and there are officers coming in and out. >> they may not want that person coming to their house or meet them in a parking lot. now they can meet them at the pittsburg police department. takes the safety aspect out of the equation. >> reporter: it's very cheap. since they already have the cameras in place, they spent less than $1,000 to put up the signs and paint plans to set up an exchange goat in -- an exchange zone in a few months. someone snapped a picture of a goat as it wandered in to a starbucks. an off duty sergeant took the goat to the animal shelter. a few hours later the goat's owners stopped by the claim her. the animal named milly broke loose from her home in pen grove. the shelter gave milly a new caller and a name tag. thousands of people turned out in san francisco this weekend for a celebration of japanese culture. the northern california cherry blossom festival happened over two days in japan town. there were food booths, live music, and martial arts performances. today a parade made its way from city hall to the festival. this was the event's 49th year and one of three such festivals in the united states. in the weather department, we've still got overcast skies but mostly heading south and out. you may be curious to what's happening tomorrow. more on the way, but probably not tomorrow. just a few residual showers. on the time lapse of the radar you can see it's all offshore, all heading almost due south and leaving behind a lot of moisture. cloudy skies reported from santa rosa and beyond. the only place in the upper 40s and low 50s and there's what's happening. we've got that low pressure that's now moving in to the desert southwest. the showers will taper off for us and leave us with drying conditions if not perfectly sunny conditions. still, not a bad weekend. more than an inch of rain in walnut creek. the east bay got significantly more rain than call it the west bay and shoreline, and got a heck of a lot more rain than ben lohman did. north bay picked up 2/3rds of an inch. and sausalito, .84 of an inch. tomorrow morning begins with overcast skies. this is 8:00 in the morning tomorrow. so overcast, cloudy, then slowly things will begin to think about clearing out as we head toward sunset tomorrow night and as we look way ahead, another weak cold front comes in. then we get another chance of a few showers coming in by late wednesday, early thursday, and it wouldn't amount to much. heading out of the bay area, looking pretty good. partly sunny skies over much of northern california. some showers in the afternoon for tahoe and yosemite. overnight lows with sun up at 630 a.m. daytime highs tomorrow mid 60s with mostly cloudy skies. extended forecast after the showery weather today, we get drying out tomorrow for the most part. tuesday, a little bit of sun. wednesday, maybe a sprinkle. sunshine, wait till next weekend. temperatures will be back in to the mid 70s creek again. he ends up with a quadruple bogey 7. 6 over par in three holes. he drops to 1 under for the tournament. suddenly danny willett is your leader. he parked his tee shot on the 16th tied with birdie to go 5 under for the tournament. three-shot lead over westwood at that point. it taps in for par at 18 with a two-stroke lead over spieth. he began the waiting game. would spieth come back? on the 16th tee, look at the tee shot. he is in position to make a birdie and get back in the tournament. but he leaves it too high, would have to settle for par. two back with two to play. spieth couldn't find anymore magic on the final two holes which sealed the win for the englishman willett, just the second englishman ever to win the masters. he wins by three shots over spieth and lee westwood. an eight-shot lead for willett who trailed spieth by 5 on the front nine. pretty good couple weeks for willett who just became a dad on march 30th. >> my son was due today and he came 12, 13 days early to let me come and play. you talk about fate, you talk about everything else that goes with it, it's just been a crazy, crazy week. >> pretty soon i'll be disappointed with that one. just think it was really a very tough 30 minutes for me that hopefully i never experience again. giants starter johnny cueto heard boos in the 1st inning, cheers in the 7th. how does that happen? the free
