Clemson, SC – Sophomore Cristina Mayorova displayed an amazing performance with a ranked win over #52 Carolyn Campana, but the No. 62 Clemson Women’s Tennis team (8-7, 2-5 ACC) fell to No. 21 Wake Forest (10-6, 2-3 ACC) by a score of 5-2. The Demon Deacons got off to a quick start, taking the first win on Court 1, 6-1. The duo of Samantha Buyckx and Ali DeSpain responded with their own 6-2 victory on court 2. With a tied decision, Eleni Louka and Lana Sipek fought a close match to ultimately lose the set 4-6 giving Wake Forest the doubles point. Wake Forest maintained control of the match early in singles play, jumping out to a 3-0 advantage. But it was Mayorova who made a big impact with her commanding 6-2, 7-5 victory on court 1 against No.52 Carolyn Campana to give the Tigers their first point of the match. This is the sophomore’s 2nd ranked win this season.
