almost every time they have updated this, they said it will get stronger. buckle up for this one, it will be a major hurricane. >> ashley: senior fox meteorologist janice dean is tracking this storm this morning. >> janice: we have a hurricane and expect this storm to intensify to major hurricane category 3 or 4. take a look at it. 5 a.m., 75 mile per hour sustained winds kicking up along the west coast of florida. this is going to be a big impact event for the big bend of florida and places along the west coast need to take precaution and areas across georgia and carolinas have to be preparing for high impact event. not only potential for tropical storm force wind, heavy rinfall in areas crossing over the southeast and power outages. other big concern is nothing in the storm's way. we don't have a lot of wind sheer to tear it apart and the water is exceptionally warm. that is the fuel this storm needs to pump up in categories. we think a category 3 certainly on the border of a category 4 storm. there is where we see the latest cone moving into the big bend of florida. 2.1 million floridians are in the cone of uncertainty. the east coast of florida, as well. not just a big bend situation, this is impacting florida and some rain forecast totals in effect five to eight inches, upward of a foot. that is going to be potential devastating impact is rainfall. storm surge is water going to be pushed into the coastline. we've talked about >> tammy: being vulnerable to storm surge, worried about that area. if this storm wobbles, it will be impact for higher population. we're going to have to pay attention to the latest forecast. we have hurricane hunters giving the latest data. this is wind field of the storm making way toward big bend and talking about category 1 terms of peak storm surge over nine feet for some vulnerable areas here and it is very shallow thachl is my concern, talking about upward of over nine feet, that is over topping homes. one story home is over you, that is why storm warnings are in effect and we have officials saying you need to evacuate now because time is running out. peak storm surge through n24 hours upward of 12 feet. this is catastrophic event for cities shaded in red. look at tampa, nine feet of storm surge and that is vulnerable area because of way >> tammy: is situated, it is bay, all that water gets pushed into the bay area and has nowhere to escape. that is going to be a huge story. we're talking about a storm surge all the way down the coast to the florida keys. as we go out in time, georgia, south carolina upward of four foot storm surge as storm makings its way toward the atlantic. this is high impact event for the big bend and west coast of florida and east coast of florida. we don't have a lot of time, listen to local officials and know there is possibility for this to rapidly intensify. i won't be surprised if we're dealing with a category 4 upon landfall, which will happen tonight into
