number of migrant kids remained in custody but the biden teams are still not calling the situation, sandra, a crisis. >> john: griff jenkins is live near the border in el paso for us where we do expect to hear from a group of lawmakers a short time from now. the microphone is set up. i had a fat, you are on the ground they are. what have those lawmakers been seeing? >> hey, sandra and john, how are you? the leaders which by the way includes congressman tony gonzalez and el paso as part of his district. what you can see behind me, the press conference is waiting to begin after the tour and the visit, the briefing to lawmakers are getting. they started at the el paso central processing center resources told me they are at or near hitting their capacity levels right around us today or tomorrow, certainly this week. then come up they are going to go up to what is called monument three and get an overview briefing, a briefing and an overview of the high points. you can see here as we look up this mountain, that's mexico in the background and that you can see the border patrol agents up in the car. i think we also have our fox drone team up over mission, texas, and at rgb where i was yesterday. in the el paso sector, let me tell you about their numbers. the uac is up 144% and single adults are up to 231% right here where we are. that of course over the weekend is the big news. dhs secretary meyer chris tapping fema to help hhs house and received these children that are crossing a border in record numbers and that's what senator tom cotton said earlier this morning is proof that there is indeed a crisis. listen. >> the biden administration is sending fema to the border and they are by their own declaration admitting, it's a disaster. that's what it is when you deploy fema. a disaster. but they are not deploying fema to secure the border come to try to finish the wall or stop the migrants from crossing, they are deploying fema to expedite them, to waive them in even faster and send them wherever they want to go in the united states. that is the point biden border crisis. >> finally, they visit with a jaw-dropping number of those children, up 61% since january, a total of 9,457 a cross february. sandra and john? >> to that very point, what can you tell us those lawmakers will be able to see or view while they are when it comes to how those miners are being housed at our border? >> well they will theoretically be able to see everything and see how they are being taken care of and perhaps how it may be different from what the trump administration did in the administration, the obama-biden administration did before. because remember all the comparisons go back to 2014, and of course what we saw in 2019. but it's worth pointing out that dhs has yet to let any media or any press inside and so really, transparency is not part of this as far as what we are able to see. we have to trust the lawmakers when we interview them. >> john: when it comes to the texas border, you are like stopping tom connor's, you've been everywhere from el paso to every stop in between. what's it like across the entirety of the border and how does that compare to other times they've been there in the past? >> great question. as you can see behind me and el paso you have a land border but then when we were in the rio grande valley that was entirely the rgb sector which is 310 total miles of river boundary between u.s. and mexico. but what has changed when i've been here in the past in 2019, and i was in whereas across the way in 2019. i may go back again to tease it. it was in el paso in 2019 which is different than perhaps the absolute overwhelming exasperation of the border officials because back in 2019 they were trying to find solutions to really slow the flow. now during a covert pandemic they have more liberal policies and they are worried that if something doesn't change quickly this has no sign of ending. >> sandra: griff, excellent reporting on the ground there as usual, thank you very much for that. we will check back in with you and those lawmakers on the ground, we are expecting, john, to see and hear from kevin mccarthy and those other lawmakers shortly with what they were able to see. john, to your point about how these miners are being housed, we can only hear about it so far from here but then packed into close proximity, some of them not seeing light of day. tough conditions as the number of minors headed toward our border continues to surge. >> john: in 2019 it was a similar situation where the obama administration wasn't letting us in. i got to know that then secretary of dhs and i implored him on a personal level to let us in. if you don't have anything to hide, let us take the cameras in. unfortunately south of mcallen, or just west of mcallen, we were able to get in. keep up the pressure and sometimes they open the door. we will see. >> john: a fox news alert, new concerns over new york governor andrew cuomo's administration after reports that his vaccines are couch county and executives to determine their loyalty to the governor. this as more call for the governor to resign or be impeached. we have complete coverage and in just a moment we've talked to senator daphne jordan who has introduced legislation to help hold that cuomo and his aides accountable in the nursing home scandal. but first brian yoon is who joins us live from brooklyn. >> "new york times" reporting that two unnamed county executives say that the man in charge of disturbing vaccines in new york larry schwartz called him to gauge their loyalty. and one of them felt so uncomfortable about the call that they moved to file an ethics complaint. that person saying "at best it was an appropriate and at worst it was clearly over the ethical line is acting counsel because the claimant "patently false. in the meantime 26, nearly all of new york's congressional delegation are now calling on cuomo to resign including now senator kirsten gillibrand who reversed course late friday. >> i believe that the governor has to resign. you know, every situation is different and the thing that is very unique about this moment in time is we are in the middle of the worst crisis of our lifetime. >> president joe biden was asked about this and for the first time he directly commented on the scandal and did not call for his resignation. listen. >> do you think governor andrew cuomo should resign? >> i think an investigation is underway and we should see what it brings us. >> house speaker nancy pelosi too speaking for the first time and she stopped short of calling for his resignation. >> john: i have an entire transcript of a briefing that cuomo just had and not a word about that scandal. neither one of them is talking all about covid and we will see if he says anything else about it going forward. brian lyness for us. >> sandra: senator daphne jordan joins us now. i should also point out to brian yanez report, governor biden not calling for his resignation, jen saki was asking about this in the briefing room just a short few minutes ago and she said, like everyone that continues to read these news stories end of elements they seem to be happening every day, the president but does find them troubling. we find them troubling, hard to read, every woman needs to be treated with respect. the president finds the investigation appropriate at this time. sort of backing up what we already heard from still not calling for a resignation. if i could just get your thoughts on this moment is so much continues to change. >> cuomo definitely needs to go and maybe it will take president biden to make that happen. i will give the governor this. he's entitled to due process regarding the recent sexual harassment allegations made against him but given the totality of all of the serious circumstances surrounding him, he has lost the trust of his governmental partners and the public trust. he has lost my trust. so let's look at what he's facing. he has seven credible accusers of sexual harassment including current and former staffers as well as a journalist and one of these accusers is actually accusing him of sexual assault. he is looking at an ongoing federal department of justice investigation into his attempted cover-up of 15,000 nursing home deaths. there is an expanding call for a probe into his questionable questionable book deals and he has employees not going into work at the governor's office and the only way i know why, they've been leaving this whole summer. his top aide in terms of a vaccine distribution is calling county executives gauging political support for the governor, basically setting up a quid pro quo environment. >> sandra: if i could stop you there on that very point because here is new york city mayor at bill de blasio on that investigation into the cuomo vaccine czar that he says is needed. >> what we heard about the governor and his team trying to link vaccines applied to political support is the definition of corruption. it's disgusting and dangerous. there are lives on the line and it cannot be tolerated. >> sandra: and so there's that and there's questions over whether we will hear for president biden to call for him to resign but there's also questions over why we haven't heard from more women on this including kamala harris. nancy pelosi still won't even say she thinks that he needs to resign. here is pelosi. >> but you are not calling on him to resign right now? >> i think we should see the results of the investigation. she may decide, hopefully this result will be soon and what i'm saying is the governor should look inside his heart, and he loves new york to come in to see if he can govern effectively. >> sandra: i wonder if she would be saying the same has this been a republican? >> absolutely not. she would have been all over any republican right now. it's just wrong and again, she is looking at just the sexual harassment allegations, there's so much more going on around him. he created a dark cloud around our state government and it's time for him to go. >> sandra: new york state senator daphne jordan, thank you for joining us this afternoon. so much piling up there and so much to take in. even as jen saki just said in the white house briefing room a moment ago, she and the president like all of us continue to repeat developments which seems like daily or sometimes hourly on this story. >> john: before the show in a discussion with one of our crew, he has got andrew cuomo a clintonesque ability to compartmentalize. he has all of this swirling around him and he holds a covid briefing as if nothing is going on. >> sandra: that's remarkable. and his twitter account goes on as if nothing is happening as well. >> john: we will see if he can hang in through another election. developing now, dr. anthony fauci says the cdc could soon reduce its recommended 6 feet of distancing rule for students in classrooms. >> does a study suggest to you that 3 feet is good enough? people they've caught in the last few days or over there in sector three or monument three have been on the terror watch list. individuals that they have on the watch list for terrorism are now starting to exploit the southern border. we need to wake up. we need to understand, president biden, you are an okay guy, just admit you made a mistake with this policy and go back to the way it was, keep america safe for all of us. use that money we are wasting down here on our american citizens. the door should not be open and we should have immigration the right way. i'd like to invite my good that has changed, it's changing today. we have your back. america is a nation of immigrants. border security and illegal immigration are hand-in-hand. we are compassionate people and we do not want to see overcrowding in our spaces. we do not want to see families make dangerous tracks across countries that they don't understand and put themselves at risk. what we want to do is we want to attract the best and the brightest that this world has to offer, and we want them to come in a legal fashion. and we can do that. that first starts by supporting our border security. border security and legal president biden himself will not admit that this is a crisis is a shame. even those in his administration and hhs have admitted that we have an refugee crisis. they have set several additional housing locations, one in my district with 700 people were moved overnight with no notification to local elected people, no notification of the sheriffs or law enforcement or judges and overnight, 700 on a company to people, unaccompanied children, have been moved into midland, texas. the biden administration and his policies have resulted in winners and losers and the winners are the human traffickers who know that because we don't have a secure border, that they can move these children. when we looked into their eyes what we saw was children being taken advantage of. but not only thaact,t that we have folks on the terror watch list that will be moved into this country illegally that are going to take advantage of these bad policies that no, because we don't have a strong sakura border that the border wall construction has stopped and been halted about 22 days ago. now, they have something to take advantage of. we implore the biden administration to come visit and to see what their policies have done to these children, but they have done to make our country less secure. i'd like to introduce congressman joyce from ohio. >> thank you all for being here and thank you for the opportunity to migrants. they've been told, come on, come across, from all over a host of countries. what does that mean? human costs, and humanitarian costs, let me its complete failure here at the border. that more maneuvering by pelosi and schumer to call it a challenge, it's a crisis with dire multiple problems involved. what we need to do is act and act as americans, backed united, and i would close with this. as he appropriate or on homeland security we know it will become a supplement, a request for more money. we have to get those resources where we need it but for the actions of this president when she will not acknowledge, he has created this crisis. we got to stop it. we got to come together as americans, not just republicans and democrats, not just members of the administration or the house and senate, but as americans and deal with this. thank you. my good friend clay higgins from louisiana. >> ladies and gentlemen, thank you for being here today. it's unfortunate that we as a nation have allowed this crisis to develop. it began last when then candidate biden continuously messaged that he was going to weaken law enforcement missions on the border and stop construction of the wall and create a pathway to citizenship or amnesty for illegal residents that were already here. the cartels were listening. most of you know that the cartels infrastructure is incredibly well developed and they are very well-funded. so they began getting ready. they were hoping for a biden victory and on january 20th, joe biden was inaugurated as our president. so i'm going to ask president biden to please pay attention. i'm talking straight to you now. allow us an audience with you. you have been misled your policies that you have signed into effect are injuring the american detailing that new facility that was built a year ago, and he said it's packed full. they can't put a single other person in that building. he also talked about a parking lot, a makeshift facility, jam-packed. they are overcapacity there and we are about to hear biden talk about that, not a dollar that goes to helping this at the border. >> that's right sandra. leader mccarthy saying that it's not just a crisis, it's a human tragedy and the news that's really news that also drove the el paso processing center at its capacity and we saw in the rio grande valley, that's what we are seeing makes it gigantic difference in neighborhoods and communities. if you have drug store or a beauty shop, a hardware store, it's the center of small communities. and it gets our schools and resources they needed to open safely. it provides a biggest investment in child care since world war ii. and it provides food and nutrition help for the millions of families to keep them from going hungry and keep their roof over their heads. and it expands health care coverage and lowers health care costs for so many people. and it will cut child poverty in half in this country. child poverty will be cut in half as a consequence of what's in this recovery act. and it will generate economic growth through the entire nation. that's why a major economist, left, right and center, will support this plan. according to moody's, at the end of the sea of this law will spur our economy to create 7 million new jobs. it focuses on the backbone of this country. working families and middle-class, people who built this country. as i said last week it's one thing to pass an historic piece of legislation like the american rescue plan and it's quite another to implement it and the devil is in the details. it requires fast eddie is oversight to make sure the relief arrives quickly, equitably and efficiently with no waste or fraud in your bank account or your mailbox, to the local business in your community. i've been here before. when president obama and i came to office in 2009 he put me in charge of implementing the recovery act which helped us recover and rebuild during the great recession. i was authorized to put together a team including an accountability board within inspectors general from different agencies that were affected by the act, to make sure that we got the roughly $800 billion out into the countryside by the book and quickly over 18 months. i talked to over 150 mayors, all governors except one constantly going over the granular detail of the implementation of this legislation. the effort put us on a path from crisis to recovery to resurgence. accordingly, to the oversight board and they said we got it done with less than two tenths of 1% waste or fraud. and that's not what the previous administration did. when the congress passed the cares act, congress created a committee of inspectors general to make sure every penny of that money was spent as it was directed. but one of the first things the previous administration did was fire the head of the inspector general's committee. so when congress passed what was intended to be small business relief program, and instead become a free-for-all for well-connected companies. mainstream businesses from hardware stores to beauty salons that needed the help most were left behind. 400,000 are now gone. we will not let that happen this time. i learned from my experience in fomenting the recovery act just how important it is to have someone who can manage all the moving parts with efficiency, speed, integrity and accountability. that's the sort of management we seen in our fight against a virus with jeff science, our covid response coordinator. today i'm pleased to announce and introduce another gifted manager to coordinate our implementation of the american rescue plan, jean sperling. jean will be on the phone with mayors, governors, red states and blue states, the source of caustic munication, a source of guidance and support and above all a source of accountability for all of us to get the job done. the only person in the history to serve as director of the national economic council twice. he led successful efforts and he delivers relief to small businesses and unemployed americans in the obama-biden administration and the clinton administration. i spoke with the dean earlier today alongside my economic team and he is ready to get to work. in fact he has already hit the ground running. in fact want to make sure that the benefits of the american rescue plan go out quickly and directly to the american people where they belong. let me close with this. help is here. and hope is here real and tangible ways. we are just days away from 100 million shots and not the arms of millions of americans. that's the way. that's the way on the way to get every single american access to the vaccine. 100 million checks going into the pockets and/or direct deposits into the pockets of millions more of americans. that's real progress. we have a lot more to do, we have to approve two american people of the government can deliver to them and do it without waste or fraud. that we can vaccinate the nation, that we can get our kids safely back in school and we can get our economy back on track by helping hundreds of thousands of small businesses open and stay open. and that we can get people of this nation a fighting chance again with relief checks, lower child care costs, lower health care costs and so much more. that's our job. that's our responsibility and the process will be growing the economy as well. we will stay on top of every dollar spent on the american rescue plan and that's what we will do. we can do this and we will do this. god bless you all, help is on the way and may god protect our troops. thank you very, very much. >> john: president joe biden in the state dining room talking about administration of the massive relief bill. >>
