his new role health oversee criminal investigations including one in to hunter biden. is this some kind of a joke? it is not obvious, and outrageous conflict of interest, of course, but it looks worse. was nicholas mcquaid given his new role at department of justice by the new president's team in order to protect the president's son? imagine it is last year, john johnjr. was caught dodging taxed president trump put rudy guliani to overlook it. you know what would have happened. democrat most likely will try to impeach of president over it. instead, because is president joe biden, who put his son's defense lawyers business partner in charge, no one cares, what is this? a banana republic? here to help us, fox news language -- legal analyst gregg jarrett, if i wrong thinking this is insane? >> it is what i anticipated. cynic or a skeptic would say that the fix is in there are thousands of qualitied lawyers who could have filled this position. heading up to the criminal division overseeing joe biden's son criminal investigations. of all the people, that joe biden picked, on his very first day in office is nicholas mcquaid, who has a close association with hunter biden's lawyers, they work together on white collar criminal defense cases, whether or not to defend -- to defend hunter biden, no one is saying, this is a flagrant conflict of interest. in violation of department of justice rules and recession -- regulations at the least it creates the appearance of i'm pro priority. when you have that is is mandatory that you disqualify yourself. and yet we heard nothing about mcquaid recuses himself. this is why i was so critical of bill barr recusing. >> thank you greg. let's look at the anatomy of that start with the recusal that you pointed out. is mandatory. when would you expect to see that happen should that have already happened in and what pressure can anyone put on mcquaid to recuse himself. >> it should have been instantly, only pressure now applied by the senate judiciary with a strong letter demanding mcquaid recuse himself and officially on the record. that is about the only way that -- that you can get a situation in which. you know this investigation is not subject to undue influence. i suspect this is going to be part of a question and answers that republicans will have from merit garland during his confirmation hearing, the promises that no one including mcquaid will entire fear and demand, they should demand mcquaid's recusal. steve: there are layer. because, even if they follow the rules, do the recusal. it seems that is a classic swamp version of pro priority. , sent a signal to everyone involved about how they want to handled they want president's son protected. steve: i think it does. >> the media would be howling, this is not easily dismissed as hunter biden would have you believe. simply a tax affair matter as if they will pay a fine, that is it no, there is a grand jury investigation, that means which say criminal case, they are are looking at hunter receipt up to 5 million-dollars from a chinese company. that smacks of money laundering. the feds got to case flew government and industry department suspicious activity reports, they are looking at every from tax evasion, to tax fraud to conspiracy to commit fraud. >> one more point. remember we have witnesses who have gone on record. multiple times saying this involves the current president, he is involved in these business deals, we don't know how, but those allegations have been made. the whole thing is quite unbelievable, gregg thank you so much for helping us understand. we'll keep pressure up and hope to see you again as this unfolds. >> sure all right. steve: let's get to our special investigation on the origins of coronavirus. over last two weeks we have shown you evidence that points toward most likely origin of the pandemic, risky research, commissioned by our own nih that were subcontracted to wuhan area. we have study them and better prepare our defenses. in 2014 after a number of dangerous lab leaks, obama administration placed a moratorium on the gain of function research, but they carried on funding it regardless, three payments made totally 1.8 million while the ban was in place. payment, to echo health alliance, run by peter dasak, that subcontracted to wuhan group of viral -- virologies that had worked with him to track down the source of the 2002 sars epidemic. we know the work that wuhan carried out it is detailed in a paper tied to the original grant. they analysis the bat coronavirus, and sequenced genetic information, and new viruses and they infected human cells with them in the lab, then showed their man-made virus could replicate the virus. after that, they published a payment saying that pandemic virus is similar to one they had in their library, they said they just found it but the virus they claim to have found was a 100% match for a bat coronavirus they found in a mine years ago, while investigating a deadly sars-like respiratory illness that killed 3 miners who came into close contact with bat feces. it was reported in january, that this year, that platformer deputy national security add adr to trump, privately told to a group that growinged about of evidence supports idea that virus leaked from the wuhan lab. former member of mi6 said it was an engineered escaper, not iing other than it was an accident. and warns that wuhan lab it safety and management weaknesses, according to state department, workers in the lab got covid symptoms in fall of 2019. they were first identified cases of the outbreak. chinese regime was concerned about all evidence pointing to the lab, that in february last year they replaced the head of the institute with head of bioweapons program, and evidence was destroyed as cbs news reported the other -- nbc news reported the other week. >> with 20,000 entries, which may have offered important clues about what chinese was studying, taken down, last spring. a senior lab tomorrow said it official said itwas removed for. steve: over a year has gone by without serious investigation to the lab leak -- high positions. >> even america scientists are afraid to speak out they are worried to their funding cut, but it is changing, two days ago. "washington post" ra'anan an exe ed corpsial including every key point in the pieces that we have broadcast over last two weeks. the link 2 the mine and cover-up and secrety was what was going on, like us, the "washington post" demanded answers. stanford university professor, won't on bill nye's podcast and detailed what we need. >> really need to do is to go to the laboratory in wuhan, and say, we absolutely need to look at everything in your freezers, all of the records of what was in your freezers, all of the data that you collected over the recent years, and including sequence information. on any sample you already looked at. steve: he is right, but, we got this instead. after the w.h.o. team did finally visit the wuhan lab, peter dasak, tweeted afterwards: >> oh, that is all right then. saying that quarantines were asked and answered, let's all go home now, job done. why isn't anyone ask the head of niaid, dr.anthony fauci and of these questions, he is barely off the airwaves, but asked question like this. >> what is your morning routine? >> i get up around 5:00, shave, shower, have breakfast, a quick look at papers, scan my e-mails and head off to the nih . steve: that is good to know, do you think we might be told why despite ban in place at the time our own government funded research, that looks like it led to worst globe at catastrophe in a run years and -- a hundred years and whether we're still funding it we reached out to nih and got a denial contradicted by published documents. if we wrong about this they have evidence to show, that why won't anyone from nihirks come on this show, and answer our questions, instead of hiding behind the statements. we will not stop until we get the answers. not to point fingers are flame anyone, we learn lessons that can help prevent next pandemic. about the origins of the pandemic? >> well, steve, i want to thank you for looking into this. i don't think that many people are aware of all of the parts that have not fit together, but the pieces of the puzzle are there. the question is, will we ever really know, and reality is, it would require cooperation from the chinese communist party, we have not seen that. we have seen request for source strain the actual vials used to the labs, not seen that provided by the ccp . we have not seen that provided by the laboratory there we have not seen it provide by dr. dasak task all requested by the nih it will require a lot of stuff that i'm not sure we'll be able to get. steve: and back to, i mentioned it, in my -- introduction, but state department fact sheet that was published which specified in clear terms, that the first people who got the disease, got covid, were those who worked at the institution. -- institute. they have a specific question on the end, any credible inquiry into origins of the virus must include interviews with these researchers at the lab, and a full accounting of previously unreported illness, that seems to be a far simpler ask, one that is more likely to be delivered. if it turns out first people that got the disease worked in the lab, just a -- you just before the outbreak. fall of 2019, that is something that will be easier to understand and get to the bottom of than all of this genetic information that seems so hard to get hold of. >> you know, any reasonable investigation of any kind would provide some protection for those speaking up, but we have seen over the last year and a half is that chinese communist party has retaliated gain anyone that has spoken up what are odds that one of few the 4 laboratories that handles dangerous virus is 5-miles from the wuhan hospital where the doctors were silenced, detained, and told not to speak up. they were forced to sign concessions, they were reprimanded. these thing are concerning. it points to the fact that there may be something there, if you look at original respect of the cases out of wuhan hospital, one published in the lancet over a third of the cases with no con- connection with the wuhan food market, there are a lot of pieces that should fit but there is not evidence to make them feet. >> right. we'll be pushing for them, great to see you, i know you will follow, and hopeful we can talk about it wa more information in the future, dr. marty makary thank you. >> thank you. steve: all right, coming up, a democrat next. ♪ piano playing ♪ ♪ “what the world needs now” ♪ ♪ is love, sweet love ♪ ♪ it's the only thing that there's just too little of ♪ ♪ what the world needs now is love, sweet love, ♪ ♪ no not just for some but for everyone.♪ steve: welcome back president biden relief plan includes 350 billion in emergency aid to state and local governments, they say they need the money because their budgets have been decimated by the pandemic, that does sound plausible, is it true?
