Two Huskies headed to Marian University

JOHN, B.C. – There is positive news coming from the Fort St. John Huskies this week, including a 50/50 sellout and a pair of players headed to Marian University in the fall. Huskies general manager Jeremy Clothier says defenceman Aiden Tegart and centre Dean Whitcomb have committed to Marian University, making them the third and fourth Huskies players to move on to Marian. Aiden Tegart has been with the Huskies for six seasons. Playing in 117 games, he tallied 11 goals, 32 assists, and 302 penalty minutes. Clothier says Tegart’s size and passion meant he needed to be reeled in from time to time as a youngster, but as the years went on, the imposing defender learned to pick his spots.

CNRL reportedly decommissioning assets in Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge

Several residents, who wish to stay anonymous, told Energeticcity that the company is decommissioning the Pine River Gas plant, Sukunka field operations, and most of Tumbler Ridge field operations. One of the reports included a screenshot of an email from CNRL management. The company sent out a notice to Pine River Gas Plant workers informing them that the “orderly suspension of the plant is at a safe, idle state”. Northern Health Region adds 41 new cases

BC CDC COVID-19 dashboard for March 16, 2021. (BC CDC) VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region added 41 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, dropping the active case count to 309. There are 24 people in hospital, 14 of those are in Intensive Care. The region had no COVID-19 related deaths Tuesday, keeping the total at 111. There have been 5,241 confirmed cases and 4,845 recoveries since last spring. Provincial COVID-19 data There are 280 people in hospital, 84 of those are in Intensive Care. The province had no COVID-19 related deaths Tuesday, keeping the total at 1,407. Since last spring, B.C. has recorded 88,929 positive cases, and 82,436 of those have recovered.

YAC planning 2021 virtual Youth Changing Tomorrow conference

The theme for the conference this year is ‘Steps of Success’, which will cover various youth-specific topics such as self-confidence, finances, fitness and nutrition, trades and climate change. The topics were decided after a survey conducted by the city. Partners for the event include BC Student Voice, Northern Lights College, and Peace River Hydro Partners. Youth council members are helping find speakers and sponsorships for the conference, among other duties.

Assault investigation underway in Clairmont

Clairmont home being held for a search warrant. (Energeticcity) FORT ST. JOHN, B.C – Fort St. John RCMP is currently investigating a ‘serious assault’ at a residence in Clairmont. Several reports claim that a police presence was at a Clairmont home on Oak Avenue for close to 24 hours from Monday to Tuesday. Media Relations Officer Cst Chad Neustaeter says the property was being held for a search warrant. The property has since been released. “It is yet to be determined it further information will be released.” No further information has been released at this time. This is a developing story. More information will be released once it comes in.
