Pennsylvania’s added 5,343 new cases, bringing the statewide total to 1,038,749.
The county also had 189 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 65,314. Across Pennsylvania, there were 11,233 new negatives for a total of 4,162,432.
Positivity rates in the county and statewide also continued to climb over the last week. For the week of March 26-April 1, Centre County’s PCR testing positivity rate was 10.3%, up from 9.2% the previous seven days, according to the updated
DOH early warning monitoring dashboard. Pennsylvania’s statewide positivity rate was 9.4%, up from 7.7% the previous week.
For the 28th consecutive day, DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents on Saturday, keeping the total at 213.

LOCK HAVEN Donald Lee Adams, Jr., 42, previously of Clinton County, was captured in the morning of March 5, 2021 in a cabin in the mountains of Kentucky. Adams was located and taken into custody by members of the Kentucky State Police and the U.S. Marshall’s Office.
Officers breached the front door of the cabin and located Adams. At the time, officers report that Adams had so many guns that they referred to it as “an arsenal”. There is currently an investigation into the weapons that were located. It is also unclear at this time as to whom the cabin belongs.
Convicted sex offender faces new charge
JERSEY SHORE Convicted child sex offender Willie Merritt, 33, has been charged by the Tiadaghton Valley Regional police with failure to register his new address with the state police. Although he carried an official Northumberland address, he had been staying on-and-off at 427 S. Main St. in Jersey Shore from at least late December to late February, police said.
Police said Merritt also failed to appear on Feb. 23 for sentencing in another criminal case, prompting Lycoming County court officials to file a bench warrant for his arrest. Arraigned before District Judge Jerry Lepley, Merritt is jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail.

The county also had 99 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 65,049. Across Pennsylvania, there were 8,396 new negatives for a total of 4,143,418.
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents for the 26th consecutive day, keeping the total at 213.
With 27 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is 25,120.
According to DOH’s hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 28 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, with three in intensive care and two on ventilators.
Statewide, hospitalizations continue to rise, with 2,127 COVID-19 inpatients, including 435 in intensive care and 209 on ventilators as of Thursday morning.
Snow Shoe Garage Fire
According to officials the fire started due to a wood burning stove inside the garage.
The owner of the property says the building was used for a workshop for small engine repair as well as a storage area.
Emergency crews say no one was injured in the incident.
