Centre County Adds 48 COVID-19 Cases, 1 Death; Pennsylvania Reports 3,686 New Positives

Centre County reported 48 new COVID-19 cases and one new death attributed to the virus on Wednesday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The county’s COVID-19 case total is now 16,230, with 220 deaths. Pennsylvania added 3,686 positives for a statewide total of 1,143,076. With 57 new COVID-19 deaths reported on Wednesday, the commonwealth’s total is now 26,129. The county also had 67 additional negative test results to increase its total to 67,685. Across Pennsylvania, there were 8,955 new negatives for a total of 4,373,088. Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 25 COVID-19 inpatients, two fewer than on Tuesday. The patients range in age from 37 to 93, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Centre County Adds 67 COVID-19 Cases over 2 Days; Pennsylvania Reports 5,043

Monday’s total is the lowest single-day increase for the county since March 9. Pennsylvania added 5,043 cases 3,162 on Sunday and 1,881 on Monday  for a statewide total of 1,136,057. The county also had 128 additional negative test results 92 on Sunday and 36 on Monday to increase its total to 67,495. Across Pennsylvania, there were 12,397 new negatives over the two days for a total of 4,355,119. Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 35 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of 14 since its last update on Friday. The patients range in age from 31 to 93, according to a hospital spokesperson. Statewide, Pennsylvania has 2,495 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 161 since Saturday. The total includes 517 patients in intensive care and 248 on ventilators.

Centre County Adds 80 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 4,164

Pennsylvania added 4,164 positives for a statewide total of 1,131,014. The county also had 148 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 67,367. Across Pennsylvania, there were 9,958 new negatives for a total of 4,342,722. Centre County’s positivity rate saw a slight decline for the third straight week. For the week of April 16-22, Centre County’s PCR testing positivity rate was 8.8%, down from 8.9% the previous seven days, according to the update  DOH early warning monitoring dashboard. Pennsylvania’s statewide positivity rate was 8.6%, up from 9.6% the previous week. DOH reported two new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents on Saturday, bringing the local total at 219.
