(Dave Copeland/Patch) SALEM, MA A Danvers woman and Salem man were shot in the area of Park and Palmer streets in Salem Friday night. Salem police said both suffered injuries not considered life-threatening, and that while they believe the shootings were not random they did not have any suspects as of Saturday morning. Police said they responded to reports of a multiple shooting shortly after 9 p.m. Friday where they found a 40-year-old Salem man and 21-year-old Danvers woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Police said an initial evaluation determined their injuries were not considered life-threatening and they went to the hospital for further care.

SWAT team called in to help search for man with rifle near Salem Walmart

Updated: 7:20 PM EST Feb 28, 2021 Authorities are searching for a man who reportedly fled into the woods with a rifle near a Salem Walmart, according to the Salem Police Department.Salem police say officers responded at about 10:50 a.m. Sunday to the rear of the Walmart at 450 Highland Avenue to investigate the report.When they arrived at the scene, officers spoke to a witness who told them that the windows of a backhoe loader in the rear parking lot had its windows shattered by a projectile.Lynn and Peabody police, along with members of the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT Team, assisted Salem police in their search and investigation.According to Salem police, evidence found at the scene suggests that the backhoe s windows were likely shattered by BBs shot from an air rifle.Police say there were no identified threats made to people during or after the incident, but the suspect has not been found at this time. Sex charges lodged against former McMinnville resident

Sex charges lodged against former McMinnville resident A Salem resident, who formerly lived in McMinnville, was arraigned last Friday in Marion County Circuit Court on felony child sex abuse charges. Luis Fernando Del Rio Jr., 35, is charged with six counts of first-degree sexual abuse and four counts of first-degree sodomy. A Salem Police Department investigation alleges he victimized four children. His wife operated a childcare business in the couple’s home, according to police. He has also used the names Fernando, Freddy and Nando, and has also lived in Twin Falls, Idaho, in addition to McMinnville. Police said the 41-year-old man was conscious when he was treated at the scene near the outbound lane of 205 Highland Avenue shortly after 9 a.m. Police said the driver, a 26-year-old woman from Salem, remained on the scene. An investigation into the crash will determine whether charges will be filed.
