LUDHIANA: The traffic police have started a drive against the overloaded vehicles and in two days, the police have issued over 85 challans to violators. Under this drive, the police issued 10 challans on Wednesday and 75 challans on Thursday.
On Wednesday, two people died in a road mishap when a passenger bus rammed into a parked truck on Ludhiana- Delhi highway near Khanna. It was an overloaded truck from which iron roads were hanging behind.
Joint commissioner of police, Deepak Pareek, said, “On Wednesday, we started a drive against the vehicles that overload and cause road mishaps. Usually, vehicles carrying iron roads invite such accidents, as the rods are hanging outside the vehicle. We have issued 10 challans on Wednesday and 75 challans on Thursday.”

Police on Monday arrested two men for allegedly beating and raping a 19-year-old woman and leaving her outside a metro station in Dwarka, informed the sources.
The woman was found in an unconscious state said the police.
In her complaint, the woman said she had taken a cab from Shiv Chowk area in Gurgaon late on Saturday night. Three persons were already in the cab then, they said.

Satna (Madhya Pradesh) [India], January 30 (ANI): Unidentified robbers triggered an explosion and looted an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Birsinghpur of Satna district, Madhya Pradesh on Friday.
The robbers had caused an explosion to blast open the ATM kiosk. The incident happened at an Axis Bank ATM near Shiv Chowk in Birsinghpur.
On Saturday morning, top police officials including Satna Superintendent of Police (SP) were present at the spot. They scrutinised CCTV footage of the vicinity. As per the CCTV footage, suspects were seen leaving the ATM with the cash tray after the blast. Police have formed teams and started an investigation. (ANI)
