LUDHIANA: The traffic police have started a drive against the overloaded vehicles and in two days, the police have issued over 85 challans to violators. Under this drive, the police issued 10 challans on Wednesday and 75 challans on Thursday.
On Wednesday, two people died in a road mishap when a passenger bus rammed into a parked truck on Ludhiana- Delhi highway near Khanna. It was an overloaded truck from which iron roads were hanging behind.
Joint commissioner of police, Deepak Pareek, said, “On Wednesday, we started a drive against the vehicles that overload and cause road mishaps. Usually, vehicles carrying iron roads invite such accidents, as the rods are hanging outside the vehicle. We have issued 10 challans on Wednesday and 75 challans on Thursday.”
