Syracuse, N.Y. Syracuse University has suspended star lacrosse player Chase Scanlan from the team hours after his arrest Friday.
The university released a statement on Scanlan’s status moments before the team’s game against Robert Morris got underway inside the Carrier Dome.
“We were notified today that Chase Scanlan has been arrested by the Syracuse Police Department. The Department of Athletics immediately convened the Athletics Privileges Committee to evaluate and determine appropriate action,” the statement said.

Syracuse, N.Y. At least five players from the Syracuse lacrosse team have issued statements pledging support to raise awareness in the fight against domestic violence.
Goalie Drake Porter, attack Stephen Rehfuss and Owen Hiltz, midfielder Jamie Trimboli and FOGO Danny Varello all posted the same message on their social media pages.

Syracuse, N.Y. Syracuse Crunch forward Boris Katchouk has been selected the AHL’s player of the month for April.
Katchouk tallied seven goals and 14 assists in 12 games for Syracuse last month. He found the scoresheet in each of the Crunch’s first 11 contests of the month, including eight multiple-point efforts. A second-round selection by Tampa Bay in the 2016 draft, Katchouk has registered 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points in 26 games for Syracuse this season, tied for eighth in the AHL in scoring.

Syracuse, N.Y. Syracuse Mets manager Chad Kreuter gave a friendly tip to his players when they took cuts in simulated games at their alternate training site in Brooklyn last month.
When you’re done running up the first-base line, he’d tell them, hang a left, not a right. Kreuter knew that the real games were coming up, the ones where you have to run the bases, and he didn’t want them to fall into any bad (and embarrassing) habits.
