Syracuse athletic director John Wildhack needs to hit the reset button.
SU lacrosse’s slide into mediocrity is not a temporary glitch in the matrix or a down cycle.

Syracuse has not won a national title since 2009 and is 7-11 in the NCAA tournament since then with just one Final Four appearance (2013).

Editorial: CONSOLIDATION More opportunities in the courts

COLLEGE PARK, Md. Down 1-0 three minutes into the first quarter, Syracuse finally had its first possession of the game after a nice save by Drake Porter that was followed by a clear. A team that usually takes 31 seconds for its first shot hesitated this time, taking 46 seconds to navigate Georgetown’s defense and find an open shooting lane.
The shot by Tucker Dordevic missed, and Stephen Rehfuss hit the post on the ensuing shot. Another shot by Dordevic followed, this one saved by Owen McElroy, the Division I save percentage leader. McElroy lobbed a half-field pass for the clear, one that Syracuse’s defenders stood and watched happen.
