Syracuse, N.Y. The AHL will have virtually no playoffs this spring, but the good news is that the league is already focusing on a hopefully normal schedule again in 2021-22.
The league has announced that because of Covid challenges, each of its five divisions was left up to its own to decide if it wanted to hold a limited tournament. Only the Pacific Division chose that route. The other four, including the Syracuse Crunch’s North Division, decided to end play when the regular season concludes.

Syracuse, N.Y. The leadership group of the Syracuse lacrosse team told star attack Chase Scanlan that if he tries to practice with the team, players will walk out of practice, according to Scanlan’s high school coach.
Scanlan relayed that update to Rob Genco on Tuesday evening. That came hours after Scanlan returned from a suspension to rejoin the team, only to meet resistance from many players.

Syracuse, N.Y. Syracuse lacrosse coach John Desko said it was his decision to reinstate suspended attack Chase Scanlan to the team on Monday, but that he will not travel to the Orange’s game at Notre Dame on Saturday.
At his weekly Zoom media conference Wednesday, Desko also initially said Scanlan was back practicing with the Orange. Tuesday, the captains told Scanlan that if he tried to practice with the team many of the other players would walk off the field.

Syracuse, N.Y. The Syracuse lacrosse team has re-instated leading scorer Chase Scanlan, who sat out Saturday’s win over Virginia because of a suspension, the school confirmed Monday night.
Scott Scanlan, Chase’s father, said he received an email from head coach John Desko confirming that news on Monday afternoon. Scott said Chase and Desko had met to discuss the issue. Several hours after Scott Scanlan revealed that update, a school spokesperson said it was true.

Syracuse, N.Y. Syracuse attack Chase Scanlan, who returned from a week-long suspension on Monday night, practiced on his own apart from the team on Tuesday and was scheduled to have a later meeting with coaches and the captains later to try to clear up his future.
Rob Genco, his high school coach, said he spoke to Scanlan earlier on Tuesday. He said Scanlan was aware that many teammates were upset with his possible return and some threatened to leave practice if he joined them.
