Sri Lanka Police said during its extensive investigation following the detection of a traveling bag with the headless body in Dam Street, Colombo, detectives used CCTV footage to trace the bus used by the killer to reach Colombo.

State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, the Coordinating Officer to the Attorney General told News 1st that the IGP was also directed to produce the suspects before a court on charges under the Penal Code & Torture Act. 04 police officers attached to the Peliyagoda Police station were interdicted following an incident of an assault on a law student inside the police station on the 25th of February 2021.

Share: COLOMBO (News 1st): Upon initiating investigations with regard to the video that circulated via social media containing footage of a brutal assault on an infant, Sri Lanka Police on Tuesday (Mar. 02) arrested the abusive mother. According to Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana, following investigations, Police were able to trace the location to Nawaladi, Ariyala in Jaffna Police area. “The Police officers who visited the location this morning (Mar. 02) found the infant who is nine-month-old and the abusive mother who is 24-year-old,” DIG Ajith Rohana told News 1st. The woman was arrested by Jaffna Police and the baby was taken into police custody to ensure he is taken care of in the future.

Police jeep hits a three-wheeler; 2 dead, 3 injured

Share: COLOMBO (News1st): “Two people were killed while three others were injured when a police jeep collided with a three-wheeler in Katumuluwa Katupotha this morning”, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said. The accident occurred at the 10th-mile post along the Wariyapola-Kalugamuwa road at 8 am. “The 48-year-old three-wheel driver and his 69-year-old mother were killed in the accident”, DIG Ajith Rohana said. The wife and two children of the three-wheeler driver who were injured were admitted to the Kurunegala Hospital. A special team led by the Senior Superintendent of the Police Office of Kuliyapitiya is conducting investigations on this incident.
