COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY RING LEADER ARRESTED

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Criminal Investigation Department on Friday (Dec. 25) arrested a suspect in Anuradhapura, in connection with the offence of printing fake currency notes, Sri Lanka Police said on Saturday (Dec. 26).
Sri Lanka Police recently recovered a total of 327 – USD 100 fake currency notes, circulating in society.
“Initially, Kantale Police recovered 324 – USD 100 fake currency notes a couple of weeks ago and Anuradhapura Police had recovered another three USD 100 fake currency notes,” Police Spokesperson, DIG Ajith Rohana said.
Following further investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department, authorities have traced the key suspect behind the fake currency ring, who was arrested in Anuradhapura.
