Colombo (News 1st); Samples were obtained on Friday (12) to perform a DNA test to confirm the identity of the charred remains found inside a burnt car in Kohuwala on Wednesday (10) night.
The remains are believed to be of a businessman from Kohuwala and Sri Lanka Police said the DNA test will confirm if it is actually he who died in the flames.
Further, samples were obtained from the remains to carry out PCR tests as well, said Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana adding the postmortem will take place at the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital after the results are available.

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Police have begun the interrogation of the two suspects arrested in Deiyandara, Matara on Wednesday (Mar. 10), along with 74 kilograms of Heroin in their possession.
“The suspects were produced at the Deiyandara Magistrate’s Court and police sought permission from the court to detain the duo in police custody for 07-days in terms of the provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance,” Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana told News 1st on Thursday (Mar. 11).
Thereby, the court had granted permission for Police to detain the suspects for 07-days and conduct investigations.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Divisional Crime Detective Division of Matara.

COLOMBO (News 1st): The post-mortem examination in respect of the charred remains of a businessman discovered inside a burnt car near Asiri Mawatha in Kohuwala on Wednesday night (Mar. 10), will be conducted today (Mar. 11).
According to Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana, Police that rushed to the scene found a charred body inside the burnt vehicle at around 11:30 pm last night (10).
Based on preliminary investigations, the victim was identified as a 33-year-old businessman, who was residing down Bhathiya Mawatha in Kalubowila.
According to the Deputy Police Chief, information has come to light that the victim had travelled in his vehicle to get dinner.

COLOMBO (News 1st): The charred remains of an individual were found inside a burnt car in Asiri Mawatha in Kohuwala, Sri Lanka Police said on Thursday morning (Mar. 11).
A charred dead body was found in a motor vehicle down Asiri Mawatha in the Kohuwala Police area at 11:30 pm last night; upon receiving information on the matter, Police had rushed to the scene, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana told News 1st.
“The Police had observed that the car had been burnt and a charred body was found inside the vehicle. The victim was identified as a 33-year-old businessman, who was residing down Bhathiya Mawatha in the Kohuwala Police area,” the Deputy Police Chief elaborated.
